The reason why the divine power has give us the Scriptures is not solely to present facts according t the literal interpretation of the narrative. If one looks to the letter of the text, some of the facts have not actually happened and would be irrational and illogical. Granted , the facts that have happened in the literal sense are much more numerous than the facts that have been added and have only a spiritual meaning. All the same, in the face of certain pages the reader feels embarrassed. Without accurate research it is not possible to discover if a fact that seems historical actually happened according to the literal sense of the words or if it did not happen at all. By keeping the commandment of the Lord to "search the Scriptures" (John 5:39), one ought to examine with care and attention where the literal meaning is historical and where it is not. In Scripture not everything is objectively historical in the literal sense. Sometimes it is obvious that the result of taking it literally is impossible. But the divine Scripture, taken as a whole, has a spiritual meaning.

Which title in that list of links do you believe is "anti-Protestant?"
Are any of these supposed to be ecumenical, or are they all just cherry-picked quotes posted as such to shield them from debate? These are not areas where historically there is any common ground between Catholics and Protestants.

It is not antagonistic to post a link to a caucus on an ecumenical thread. You may raise a point about the linked article on this ecumenical thread even though as a non-member you could not post a comment to the linked caucus thread.
Just be careful not to be antagonistic in your remarks - save contentious remarks for the "open" Religion Forum threads which are in a town square format.
the first one, yes I was leery, but if you read the article it answers a question and it does not at any point characterize any of the various non-Catholic beliefs leave alone slur them. It is a point of dialogue or discussion yes, but the article does not disparage any faith’s dogma
For those interested in traditional protestant biblical interpretation, this is a seminar by Walter Martin on Hermaneutics. I first bought it years ago upon hearing Harold Camping, and not being able to put my finger on what he was doing so wrong, decided I needed more education. I spent almost $40 at the time, and here it is, free!
It’s basically a six part series on the art and science of biblical interpretation (literal vs. allegory, the new testament interprets the old, etc.) It probably has parts of interest to our RC freepers, also.

Sounds thorough. And you paid $40.00? Isn’t that the way it always is? Then it shows up free somewhere! (Or in a ued book store for pennies on the dollar!)
BTW, I just found out and verified today that Abby Johnson, the director who left the Planned Parenthood Clinic after viewing an ultrasound of a guided abortion — also put out a Catholic version of her book, “Unplanned.”
Focus on the Family and Saltriver/Tyndale put out the first one which I have, but I have ordered the other for comparison.
Amazing, huh?
Oops
(Or in a used book store for pennies on the dollar!)
I bought it back before the days when I had internet, maybe 93. But I dont’ begrudge it. It’s great to see such tools out there for everyone to use.
thanks for posting..
please update us on how you find the book(by Abby Johnson ) comparison...
I’ll get it next week so it won’t be right away.
I do not believe he is writing about Jonah or Noah's ark being myth but he means there are more than one meaning to the text in the scripture. Just look at psalms with the double meaning with David.
Also I am reading St Bridget's writings. In one of the visions of Christ, he talks about how the book of Revelations is written. The book will not be understood until the the end times are in effect with the Holy Spirit guidence for believers. The enemy is not to know exactly what is going on at this time. Notice how the enemy of our souls was fooled about Christ the first time with the ressurection.
