Considering what we’ve seen Catholic defend, defending vulgarity and profanity is no surprise.

When I was a catholic, I had an extremely foul mouth, and I was proud of it. Most of my classmates were too.

I’m a Lutheran.

Yes...and?

Not sure Roman Catholics will have much sympathy for you as you do for them!

Lutheran with a good deal of Catholic influence (and sympathy).

Is that perhaps because Roman Catholicism doesn't view profanity as a "mortal sin"?

I’ve had no problems. Reasoned discussions here and disagreements too, friends in real life, but no problems.

Oh, and to your direct reply of “and..?”

The point was you assumed I am Catholic from your previous posting. Never have been.

So, yes, dammit, like Patton I have an occasional foul mouth even though I’m a Protestant.

It's apparently more than "occasional".

Many brave people here have a solution but have any personally told a homo to repent and turn to God?

***

Yes, and he screamed in my face, tried to get me fired from my job, and did some very nasty things to my reputation behind my back.

Because most evangelicals know that Bible like the back of their hand and know they’re going to heaven and those heathen Catholics are going straight to hell. And If you don’t believe it just ask one.

Go ahead, ask me. I am an Evangelical Christian and I don't believe - and have never said - Catholics are going straight to hell, so, no I don't believe you! Is your obvious disdain for non-Catholic Christians based on your actual experience or do you just believe the anti-Protestant rhetoric of RC apologists?

Also, you seem to have some serious heartburn over someone's expression of assurance of salvation that comes from believing in God's promises to us in His word. Why is that? You have revealed before that you were raised in a Protestant church, did you use to have assurance of your salvation and did you have to give up that assurance when you converted to Catholicism?

My Dad said he really enjoyed golfing with the local Catholic priests because he liked hearing all their dirty jokes.

I had someone tell me that NOWHERE in the New Testament was homosexuality ever condemned. I read him Romans chapter 1. He yelled at me saying, "That's the most hateful thing I have ever heard!".

Believe it or not, I am not in the habit of dropping bombs, especially in public. Certainly not the big ones, the slang terms which are not even real words unlike the ones you’re picking at.

You should try hanging out at the “college” cafeteria sometimes. I won’t sit in our cafeteria anymore because of the brazenly foul HOSTILE (and that is the key...they are fightin’words) talk coming from these low class “collegiate” students. And in my day, same college...I and my varied peeps NEVER spoke like this even to each other, much less openly so others can hear.

I think he’s being hyperbolic because of the acrimony expressed here.

A review of your posts suggests otherwise.

If you type out the words which requires some thought and possibly a review of what you've typed, I can only imagine the actual use in conversation.

No...he's not the only one to express dismay over the assurance of salvation. Many of the Roman Catholics on these threads have said essentially the same.

They call it the "sin of presumption".

I don't know how long you've been on these threads, but you've missed out on some of the more acrimonious threads.

From what I understand there used to be some real dousies.

To be honest, it’s been so long since I left the Catholic Church, I just don’t recall. I seem to remember, the priests telling us we should avoid serious sin. It seemed like “serious sin,” was very subjective. I tried to pin our parish priest down on it, but I came away quite confused.
I didn’t mind committing venial sins, but I wanted to stop, just this side of a mortal sin. After awhile, I realized I couldn’t stop committing mortal sins, even if the concept was a little fuzzy. I guess missing mass on Sunday and eating meat on Friday, were mortal sins, but issues beyond that, including profanity? I just don’t know for sure. 😇

I am speaking generally here, because only God knows for sure, if people are saved. All we can do, is look at things from the outside. There may be some exceptions here and there, but I would say, generally speaking, if someone has NO assurance of salvation, there might be a better than even chance, that they don’t have salvation to begin with, or they just don’t have a good grip on scripture. They need to get a GRIP on scripture. That’s all generally speaking, of course. 😁😇

The ass family huh? LOL. I can think of a few more, but since I don’t tell dirty jokes anymore, I will restrain myself. I will leave that, to the ones your dad used to golf with. 😇😁🤣
