Yep. Since most of us normal people, have sexual desires, Paul said it was better to marry, than burn. I dont do false religion anymore. 👎
Uh, but he also clearly said it’s better to be celibate. So, the order of sexual righteousness is:
1) celibacy
2) married sex
3) all else - i.e., our modern sexual obsessions, excusing shack-ups and ANY extra-marital sex is sinful and at the bottom of the barrel
You know very well I didn’t say “marriage is nonsense”.
I was talking about POLYGAMY, and referring to other stuff that’s allowed in the OT.
David was very sinful, yet God kept loving him. He violated even in the OT all kinds of rules. But that doesn’t make it right - adultery, murder, etc. But God kept putting up with it and declaring him His chosen.
I meant to post this discussion as CATHOLIC CAUCUS. Within minutes I noticed I had forgotten to list it as such in the title thread and immediately did an edit like Ive seen it done before and said it was CATHOLIC CAUCUS. I also informed by private message the Admin Moderator and told him the mistake, asked him if he could change it. I didnt hear a back so I asked him if he could delete. When the usual suspects saw it was not a CAUCUS thread in the title, it immediately became a reason to bash Catholics. I do not need snide remarks directed toward me just to elicit a reaction. It was totally uncalled for. But its to be expected because its happened before.
And Peter fits none of those scenarios. and none of it is applicable to married men serving as ministers of God.
The OT Levitical priesthood was comprised of married men and it did not detract from them serving as priests before God.
Scripture is clear. Peter and the other apostles took along believing wives.
It doesn’t say anything about Paul, but making a rule based on an exception is always a bad idea.
It certainly did not hinder THEIR ability to do the work God called them to do.
Then why did God create sex to begin with.
It was HIS idea, you know.
Sexual righteousness is married sex. Celibacy does not come before it as God said that it was NOT GOOD for man to be alone.
If celibacy were preferred then God had no business creating something he would later deem unfit for man.
Catholicism by its teachings and practices and unscriptural restrictions, has judged as wrong something God said was good and blessed.
Good thing Paul didn't have the Roman Catholic mindset. He was more than willing to engage in discussion. Roman Catholics on these threads don't seem to be able to do so.
I do not need snide remarks directed toward me just to elicit a reaction. It was totally uncalled for. But its to be expected because its happened before.
However, I usually see the Roman Catholic resort to profanity first.
Ya'll seem to have some thin skin.
Yes it is, if one can handle it. The vast majority of us CANT handle it. I think marriage should be used as a means to control our passions, not as an unbridled vent for them. I am not sure if Paul was married previously. Its possible he was, since he was in the Sanhedrin, but I dont know for sure.
Maybe God created sex, so that after Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph could enjoy sex, and have a bunch of other children. One was James, a half brother of Jesus, who was the head of the Jerusalem church, not Peter. 😁👍😇
Ah, then why did God....
...make grapes and allow men to make wine?
...make food that men can eat?
Yet, drunkenness, gluttony, are sins.
God made sex, but ONLY to be used in a strict context. Sin designations are basically guards on negative consequences. Sex BTW directly affects another person, unlike most sins, which makes it extra delicate, never mind the children that are produced who have no say as to what their circumstances will be.
Pot meet kettle.
You have no such evidence. My own experience is non-Catholics tend to dig right in insulting Catholics, attacking them, profanity or not.
I dont get why people feel the need to rip apart Christians. It really is a matter of degree.
AMEN MARK17! He was known as James the Just.
He was indeed. That means that Mary and Joseph DID the "evil deed." You know, they had sex. Oh the utter horrors of married sex. They probably enjoyed it too. Bless their hearts. They were fruitful, and multiplied, just as God commanded.
:-)
Then you have links to posts to prove it, right?
1 Timothy 4:1-5 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
Unmarried priesthood and mandatory eating fish on Fri ring a bell?
Yep, I remember those days. I hated it. I was a very rebellious catholic. I still ate meat 🥩 on Friday, especially if I was going to play hockey. I was embarrassed at being a catholic, with all the peculiar doctrines. I was asked to explain the strange doctrines. I couldnt do it. My mortal sin meter spun so fast, you could use it as a fan. 😂 Those days are gone forever. 👍
Actually the main problem with Novus Ordo priests is that they don’t believe nor profess the Catholic Faith. They haven’t for decades now thanks to Vatican II. The homosexual issue is secondary. Having said that, I do hope that the recent homo events begin the long-overdue implosion of the post Vatican II church and all Catholics return to the Faith.
Actually, the pedophilia IS their main problem.
Because if it were really homosexuality, they’d be going after the priests for that. But they aren’t.
If the Catholic priests had kept their hands off the boys and sometimes girls, then they’d just be homosexuals with each other and nobody would be talking and nobody would really know about it, and nobody would be doing anything about it.
It wasn’t until kids were brought into it that the outcry began and the church was forced to make some kind of appearance of *dealing* with the problem. And so far, that’s all it’s been. Just lip service.
Who are "they" here?
What caused the homosexual problem? Modernism and godless Communism/NWO/freemasonry in the early 20th century. Which had its birth in the Protestant revolution, and so on, back to the Original Sin in the Garden of Eden.
