How Do Atheists Explain The Incomprehensible Variety Of The World's Material Objects?
JAG 5000

Posted on 06/23/2020 11:55:25 AM PDT by JAG 5000

JAG 5000 Writes:

You go into a Super Walmart Store and you go into a Super Mall, like The Mall Of America, and you look at what is on the shelves.

You pause and reflect upon the numerous varieties of raw materials used to make the hundreds of thousands of material objects found in those stores and in the world at large --- from paper clips to huge ocean going cruise ships and aircraft carriers and Boeing 747's.

You pause and think about the almost unfathomable number of material objects humans have made from the raw materials (eg. steel, copper, iron) that go into the construction of all the infrastructure that makes up all the buildings and skyscrapers in all the cities of the entire world. New York City, London, Atlanta, Paris, Brussels, and many thousands of other cities and towns worldwide.

You stop and reflect upon the millions of different kinds of material objects that have existed and do now exist throughout the world --- objects that allow us to both do the world's work and to relax and enjoy life.

Do you believe that all that above was produced by non-intelligent natural processes? Many millions of human beings find that to be incredible.

Here are some raw materials and some objects that man made from raw materials. Do you believe that non-intelligent natural processes produced or made possible all of this?

Lead, tin, copper, bauxite, iron ore, raw latex, crude oil, coal, cotton, trees, granite, gems, mercury, zinc, glass, paper clips, rubies, chemicals, potassium, topaz, diamonds, titanium, nickel, plastics, paper, jasper, lumber, natural gas, minerals, steel, corn, grain, gasoline, milk, vegetables, fish, meat, dairy products, fruit, sapphires, cell phones, computers, refrigerators, concrete, etc

` The world of untold millions of different kinds of raw materials and physical objects made by humans from those raw materials, and the way they co-exist together allowing humans to build the modern world as it exists today --displays a staggering amount of Intelligent Design.

It is reasonable to believe that all that up there was produced by an Intelligent Designer.

It is highly unreasonable to believe that all that up there was produced by natural processes apart from an Intelligent Designer -- with an Intelligent Mind that had an intelligent plan for the human race.

I’d like to see a good, science backed explanation for what causes a splitting cell in a fetus to suddenly say, “I’m gonna start building an eyeball”.

I look at the untold millions of objects that have been made and thank Allah for Muslims and Africans who made them all.

That’s lame. Look.into cosmology and nucleosynthesis.

Nucleosynthesis in stars and their explosions later produced the variety of elements and isotopes that we have today, in a process called cosmic chemical evolution.

Life is more interesting.

My understanding is that molecular gradients tell a cell its “map coordinates” in the developing body, and it uses that information to decide what sort of cell it should be and what cells it should divide into. Of course, the details are much more complicated than that, and the ultimate answer is that nobody really knows, yet.

Here’s an article with too much information:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19711444/

The question of whether current theories of evolution are adequately defended is an entirely separate one.

Biggest questions I have are when did the unisex organism decide to split in two sexes, male and female and how did that work? Also, how did flowers and the creatures that pollinate them evolve separately but seemingly together and at the same time?

it has to do with the electronic pulse given off by the central nervous system and the distance or strength of that pulse. formulating a mutation that coincides with the needed cell for that particular organ. redundant with the energy being drawn from the placenta as in a sort of mapping device.

Read the Science of God by Gerald Schroeder

“ Comparing the key events of the Old Testament with the latest findings in physics, biochemistry, and paleontology, a physicist and theologian shows that science and the Bible can be reconciled to resolve the age-old debates about God.”

Look at all the different animal species and you know that there was a god and he had his hand in it! Without god there would be no earth, no air, or water or the sun which makes our planet livable!

I’d like to see where something meaningful ever came out of chaos without intelligence directing it. It doesn’t just seem to magically organize itself, especially not the clutter in my home.

You have general pollinators like bees, but you also have “obligate pollinators” like the Yucca moth. They are famous for an old and intimate relationship with Yucca plants. Two of the three yucca moth genera in particular, Tegeticula and Parategeticula, have an obligate pollination mutualism with yuccas. Yuccas are only pollinated by these moths, and the pollinator larvae feed exclusively on yucca seeds; the female moths use their modified mouthparts to insert the pollen into the stigma of the flowers, after having oviposited in the ovary, where the larvae feed on some (but not all) of the developing ovules.

I first learned of this when I was living in the high desert of Arizona in the mid 70s. I still find that fascinating. Talk about a chicken and egg problem!
