"I’d like to see a good, science backed explanation for what causes a splitting cell in a fetus to suddenly say, “I’m gonna start building an eyeball”.

Then go study embryology and educate yourself.

I'm not an atheist, but I know how they would respond: Humans made those, not God.

However, the bigger question is how were humans created from nothing? Some intelligent being had to create the design for a Big Bang to even occur, if the Big Bang is their retort back. Without matter, there are no building blocks to create anything else.

The odds of something self generating itself out of nothing are so astronomical as to be completely beyond the capabilities of even the fastest, strongest computer available. The odds of that generation then leading to the creation of numerous stars and planets, all of whom share the same basic design, lessen the odds even more. Then the creation of at least one of those planets to create the conditions and environment to sustain lifeforms of many different kinds, adds an exponential number to the odds that are beyond the grasp of any human being.

No, the Universe and all that make it up were accomplished by the intelligent design of one who contains a far superior ability to think in a greater fashion than all humans on the earth if all could be combined to become one.

My theory: The great unknown being threw out his super-condensed basketball to see what would happen with his big bang idea. He got so confused by the development of different elements spontaneously forming, he went back to playing cosmic shuffle-board with his other super beings.

I can just hear the other beings say, "Okay, you started a cosmic mess. Now you've got this little blue dot and the sentient inhabitants are fighting over why you did it. Way to go, George. Maybe you should go back to physics class or study sociology."

That’s why the Intelligent Designer is named “I AM”. The Intelligent Designer (I’ll go with “God” at this point) always was, is currently, and always will be. Past, present, and future. In other words, Time is a construct that God made for us, another tool to help us understand things.Time helps us order life, but God isn’t bound by Time.

What are the odds of all of this occurring as a cosmic accident?

To paraphrase the American rabbi and theologian Milton Steinberg (1903-1950), the believer has to account for the existence of unjust suffering; the atheist has to account for the existence of everything else - for the world, life, consciousness, beauty, love, art, music. It would seem the believer has the upper hand.

Steve86 Writes:
That’s lame. Look.into cosmology and nucleosynthesis.

Nucleosynthesis in stars and their explosions later produced the variety of elements and isotopes that we have today, in a process called cosmic chemical evolution.

Life is more interesting.”___Steve86

I don’t think you can demonstrate with certain scientific knowledge that star “explosions” produced all that stuff in Walmart Stores and in the Mall Of America and in all the stores in throughout the entire World. That is a Faith belief.

` The world of untold millions of different kinds of raw materials and physical objects made by humans from those raw materials, and the way they co-exist together allowing humans to build the modern world as it exists today —displays a staggering amount of Intelligent Design.

It is reasonable to believe that all that down there was produced by an Intelligent Designer.

Lead, tin, copper, bauxite, iron ore, raw latex, crude oil, coal, cotton, trees, granite, gems, mercury, zinc, glass, paper clips, rubies, chemicals, potassium, topaz, diamonds, titanium, nickel, plastics, paper, jasper, lumber, natural gas, minerals, steel, corn, grain, gasoline, milk, vegetables, fish, meat, dairy products, fruit, sapphires, cell phones, computers, refrigerators, concrete, etc

"So who made the Intelligent Designer?"

Easy. It was the super being of the ethereal. No one made it, it has always existed. I believe the Men In Black have him encased in a ultra-high definition plasma container in their storeroom.

The question of 'who designed the designer' is most famously put forth by Dawkins in his book The God Delusion which fellow atheist Michael Ruse reviewed and stated, "would fail any introductory philosophy or religion course. Proudly he criticizes that whereof he knows nothing".

1. A known designer is not required by Intelligent Design - you don't need to know who designed the designer when you discover an arrow - you know it was designed. (Can be applied the the fine tuned universe, DNA, rare earth, consciousness, etc...)

2. We know the universe had a beginning (Big Bang) and if there was an infinite past we would never arrive at the present. Logical reasoning leads to the conclusion that the initial cause of motion must be something that is not, itself, in motion—an unmoved mover – the Prime Mover. If every cause is the result of a previous cause, or, if everything is caused by something else, then we have an "infinite regress" of causes which is logically incoherent (who designed the designer). Furthermore, natural processes cannot create natural processes (circulus in probando). So we are logically left with ‘creation’ from outside of nature.

3. When postulating a creator outside of nature, asking who created the creator would be like asking 'how long did it take to create time' - 'how much area did it take to create space' - 'how much weight did it take to create matter'.

4. From a theological Judeo-Christian standpoint, the question becomes "who made God?" - which means you are reduced to thinking about created gods. I don't know any Christian who believes God was created.

There’s only 98 naturally occurring elements. Not exactly incomprehensible. Everything else is just what happens when those things land in blenders.

I said “good” and “science based”. The latter is based on the definition of the word, “Science”.

Science trying to explain that right now is like ancient man trying to explain the “wanderers” in the sky.

It’s like we don’t want to admit just how much we really don’t know. Most people outside embryology don’t realize that a lot of things don’t have an explanation because there is none. We just don’t talk about it and they just assume that “smart, sciencey people understand how it works.

They don’t.

A good book to learn about how a cell "suddenly decides to build an eyeball" might be: The Gene: An Intimate History. Its a good overview of genetics. It had an interesting chapter about insect embryo research where experiments were done to learn about cells becoming specific body parts... and what happens if you move cells around at various stages.

Thanks, I will definitely check it out! It’s really hard to find anything discussing that particular topic.

The Intelligent Designer was not created. He always existed. God is Eternal and is the First Cause.

There has to be a First Cause of all things — otherwise you are left with believing that the Universe and all that is in it, is Eternal — that it always existed and never “began to exist.” So? So if you can believe that by Faith, you can believe in God by Faith.

You most surely cannot prove that the Universe and all that is in it, always existed -— that it never “began to exist” -— so the belief that the Universe always existed is a Faith belief. It takes no more Faith to believe in God {and in John 3:16} than it takes to believe that there was no First Cause that created the Universe and that the Universe always existed.

Boom!

Excellent response.

My thought is that I prefer to be with the religious right who are generally good people than those over in the Left who are generally bad people.

Somewhat lonely in this world- TradeOffs.

“When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The works Thy Hand hath made,”
....

Maybe billions of years and chance form mountains and sunsets and tree forms, but why do we look at them and see beauty?

Beauty even in what is dangerous, storms and deserts, oceans and ice bergs and cliffs? Beauty in the tiny and useless, a snow flake, a leaf hopper, the exquisite seed shell of a conch in egg case?

.

Atheism is its own Religion.

Those who arrogantly denounce others for ‘Belief’.
