I was a long time listener of Paul Harvey and loved this bit as well as the “And God made the farmer”
Very inspiring but it doesn’t make the case of becoming a true believer in whatever strain of Christianity or any other faiths.
The word of God has been used and contorted into some of worse of human calamities by evil men to increase their power and wealth at the expense of others. Would Christ really endorse any of the crusades whose real purpose was the control of the spice routes? Much like oil which we contort ourselves into going to war for “democracy”?

Sorry but blind faith in leaders who claim to do so because they were “inspired” by God is thin soup to swallow.
Many posters just quote the Bible which were written to curry favor of such earthly princes and kings to justify their terrible desires.
Sorry I cannot be blinded by that fact.

Your prior post sounded to me like you were reluctant to pursue any faith tradition because:

I want to believe but my experience tells me otherwise.

The Christian faith is in Jesus Christ and not any other. Ask yourself why this two thousand year old faith has endured, and millions have been willing to die rather than deny their belief in Him. What clinched it with me besides the 300+ prophecies fulfilled was His resurrection. He told His followers He would and the Romans were experts in executions so He was very much dead when taken down from that cross. Yet He appeared to hundreds of people afterward - people who saw Him with their own eyes were still alive when the Acts of the Apostles was written and could have shut the whole thing down. Granted, people die for things that aren't the truth but NOBODY willingly dies for what he/she knows is a lie.

As for men putting what pleased them in the book we know as the Holy Bible, have you read it? There's plenty of warts and all negative and condemning behavior laid bare before the world which leaves no doubt that if mere men chose only the pleasing stuff, they did a pretty bad job. The fact that these books expose the utter depravity of the human heart and the awe-inspiring mercy and grace of the Creator God that still loves us and redeems us from our wickedness, is pretty amazing. This book is the user manual and love letter from God to mankind that points us to Him and rewards us when we search for Him with all our heart. He is pleased when we put our faith in Him and says He will be found if we diligently seek Him. I'll pray that you keep seeking.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear...But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:1-3,6)
