"Makes me wonder if the Church isn't being set up for an attack from within."
I do feel it is already, I really do feel it...we all have to try and stay in pray and hold tight to the Eucharist, our Traditions, Scripture and the Crucifix. I keep wondering whether in some areas of our nation we will be an underground Church in the time of my grandchildren. Maybe it is fortuitous that the religion forum was set up...it might be the promptings of the Holy Spirit guiding Jim Robinson to protect us.

"a very real, even if unintentional, anti-Catholic bias is being cemented right into the very structure of this new FR Format." Ditto.

I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. And please come back -- if it weren't for your pings, I would never get to slum in the ghetto! : )
God bless.

I know your hands are tied by the anti-Catholics here, Jim. I know its easier to just eliminate the problem. This could be rewritten as I know your hands are tied by the anti-Calvinists here, Jim. I know its easier to just eliminate the problem.:>)) Just depends what side you are on Brian
To: RnMomof7
The evidence points to the contrary. Jim Rob's thread in January, "A word of caution regarding the bashing of Mormons, Catholics, Jews, anyone at all on Free Repub" was aptly named. It was not the Calvinists who were being persecuted, as Jim Rob's chosen title so aptly proved, and the behavior of the bashers on that thread so aptly illustrated.

I suggest you vist the threads where Calvinists are called "humping dogs " and told they masturbate as they type..

Wanderer, etc.
I think the amiable exchange of information and resources between Catholics is important and perhaps one of the most fruitful aspects of the online discussion we enjoy here. There are situations where Catholics cannot get reliable information about certain topics. Here we have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of voices. For the most part, there is not direct pressure to accept uncritically only one point of view on Catholic matters. That's a great advantage.

Interestingly, those comments were all made by NC's.

The quotes are from "The life of Anne Catherine Emmerich," available from TAN. Written by a priest. Some of her visions are also published in a book entitled "Catholic Prophecy," also at TAN.

Absolutely correct Brian..I was just making the point that having a serious debate on doctrine is one thing ...name calling and highly inflammatory language is something else..
BTW what do you think about that Austin guy that is all over the tube now complaining of abuse when he was 20 -26 years old...This has become one big lets get rich plan..Thisa guy was 20 for Petes sake!!

"He parted the Red Sea, a mouse click isn't going to phase him" Hahaha. ooops...Good point. Amen

"BTW it is God's will we've been banished here. Pretend its Patmos and you are Saint John."
I'm going to remember this one for the next time I send my son(named after the Evangelist) to his room. Divine Grace is dancing here...even if it seems like an exile to some.

Yeah, 20 years old. Unfortunately, what it looks like here is two very screwed up individuals managing to come together for a big tragedy. I've thought long and hard about some of these "victims" who were older or who repeatedly went back to visit their molester for more sex. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There are, of course, very unblanced and emotionally zombified individuals who crave any attention at all. That's a possible explanation. I find it extraordinary in the extreme that any adult male who is 20 years old and raised as a Catholic could claim that they did not know that having sex with a man was against church teaching and extremely immoral. This guy seems to be claiming that he was not legally sane at 20. The story really stretches the imagination but weirder things have happened, I guess. Suffice it to say, this guy must have been one screwed up 20-year-old. No normal, sane guy with all of his faculties in working order would let any man molest them without a good fight.

"BTW it is God's will we've been banished here. Pretend its Patmos and you are Saint John." Do not tell me that another Revelation is coming ...one is all I can handle:>))

"...ticket to the gravy train." Sadly, that may be the case. I'm a little skeptical of the accounts which involve willing and repeated participation. This guy was on FOX, right, and he didn't even seem to know what type of sexual specificity would be appropriate for discussion on television. He seemed a tad on the loony and psycho side of the twilight zone. Obviously there are a lot of miserable homosexuals who would like to retire to South Beach in style. The courts need to scrutinize these adult cases very carefully and cautiously. Shanley was clearly a monster, but this guy who was 20 should have known better. He basically said he thought priests could do anything (including the sexual play). That's utterly ridiculous and just not credible that a man 20 years old, raised a Catholic, and sane, could think something like that. He also revealed that he went to Shanley because he thought he himself might be homosexual. Did he get a referral from the Lavender Mafia? This one is a little suspicious.
