I wonder if any here read the actual court document stating Cohen’s eight counts. I did.

1-5 are “evasion of assessment of income tax liability”

6 is “false statements to a bank”

7 is “causing an unlawful corporate contribution” (listing a bunch of allegations and actually using the word allegations)

8 is “excessive campaign contribution” (listing a bunch of allegations and actually using the word allegations)

Davis is spouting opinionated crap for gullible Trump haters and they are lapping it up.

Stuff like that happens when you hire an attorney who has had certain political exposure that causes him to smell of farts, urine, and boiled cabbage. In other words, he got very bad advice from a political operative..

Don’t forget that Congress has been using a tax payer funded slush fund to pay off sexual abuse allegations.

Darn those irregular verbs. Past-tense of “plead” is pled (per legal usage) or pleaded (per regular grammar usage). It’s not like “read” which is spelled the same in present or past tense. More like “lead” (not the metal).

Bingo. Excellent analysis.

One might wonder why no one in the MSM would take a few minutes like you did to look at the actual charges. Well, of course we know why because the whole purpose and being of the MSM is to get Trump!

So Davis is spouting complete B.S. about charges that are not even charges.

When this truth slowly percolates out, and it will, the MSM will have further cemented its ownership of the Fake News title.

“In other words, he got very bad advice from a political operative..”

That all depends upon whether there was a sentencing deal.

“If you plead guilty to ALL counts, we will ensure you do no more than 60 days in the local honor farm”.

I would plead guilty to murder if faced with 5-10 years in the federal pen for tax fraud...for that deal.

Counts 1-5 are why he collapsed like perforated bouncy castle. Even if Trump pardoned him for federal tax evasion, the state of NY would have split him like a wet pinata on state tax evasion.

So he traded for a short stretch at ClubFed to avoid a long stretch in a state pen. This is why he hired Lanny Davis as a lawyer.

And still the best they could come up with was a fictitious campaign violation based on a novel legal interpretation to use as a cudgel in the screaming news cycle.

It’s easy Mr. President, he was given an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Tweeting ain’t going to get it done. You have the entire American legal system working to destroy you. I suggest you fight back with the power of your position. A good target would be the head of that snake - the DOJ - and you have all that you need to take it out.

The word “contribution” with regards to FEC law means that the flow of money is from the citizen to the politician. Flow of money from the politician to the citizen is not a “contribution” under legal definition. Direction of the flow of money!
