Well right now Trump is an insider incumbent Republican politician looking to get reelected. Politics always plays a role in decision making for all Presidents.
I don't know what Trump plans to do but my guess is he wishes to cut some deal to take the gun issue off the table. But we shall see.

Bud's has the Tanker for around $1600 (a bit less if you get the "NY Compliant" version with the shorter mag). The Scout Squad is around $1200. Some of the models require a "Team Bud's" membership, but the membership cost is much less than the difference in price. Also, they offer 90-day interest-free layaway on most of the Springfield products. Bud's does show the quantity remaining in stock for each model, so you can gauge the urgency if you really want something.
