Won’t be long till someone attempts to discredit this report by stating: “wearing a mask is to protect others, not yourself.”

I’m an engineer and do not understand how my mask can protect someone else but their mask won’t protect themselves. If you believe that, then I suggest you wear two masks. BTW, I was placed on posting suspension on another website for pointing this out.

Actually, one reason Fauci, before he realized the political symbolism and potential of masks, recommended against them was that they increased your chance of infection because you were constantly touching your face, including your mouth, nose and eyes, to adjust or put on/take off the mask. He also said that it gave wearers a false sense of security, so they didn’t bother washing their hands or using the tried and true disease prevention methods.

No shirt, no shirt, no masks, no service.

In my one horse town you wear a mask or take a 60 mile round trip to another suitable store to see the same rules.

So you feed the corporate beast and shop online, or bite the bullet and shop.

Or think to yourself an old anonymous quote:

“When you can’t control what’s happening, control the way you respond to what’s happening. That’s where your power is.”

It’s a two way street... Keith Olberson probably uses the same quote to level his soapbox.

Do I really give a rip about all this? No I don’t. But folks, POTUS 45 needs to be reelected.

BIG difference in N95 masks and what the general public wears.

I have learned to kinda like wearing a mask, it is kinda like being invisible!

The statement on its own means nothing without context; right off the bat, I assume people wearing masks are doing so because they are exposed to the public (rather than hiding under their beds maskless). Also, seeing so many people wearing and handling them improperly really disguises that the statistic doesn’t mean much if such people are considered as “wearing masks”.

Washing hands, and cleaning anything that could have the virus on it (especially cash) is important.

Sort of like socialism. They just weren’t wearing them right.

You do not live in small town Kansas. A lot of us do not wear masks. Of course we had the kung flu back in January and survived. Not everyone is like the people around us, no matter where we live.

They can be disease spreaders too.

That is true.

they are filthy, and people don’t care for them.

A point I made repeatedly when MaskScam was launched. I was shouted down vociferously by the usual contingent of FR Mask Karens.

I feel personally that most masks are a complete waste of time. I think the way for businesses to approach it is as I saw at one local business in that they RECOMMENDED you wear a mask in the store, but did not make it an issue beyond that. I personally did not wear one & respect the message as they conveyed it.

The purpose of wearing a mask is just to keep the Karens off your case.

The stores in my area all have signs that tell people not to enter the store with reusable grocery bags because of disease spread. I still see people bringing them in.

I can see masks preventing people from touching their mouths and noses, not the eyes though.

I had dinner with a couple of friends the other night. I couldn't help noticing how frequently both of them were touching their noses. I have gotten pretty adept at not touching my face, so I am always spotting people who do when I am out and about. It's rampant.

They get the virus from people with whom they believe it is safe to remove the mask, like at home with their family or super close friends the visit frequently. But meanwhile someone in either their family or their close friends has unknowingly obtained the virus.

That, when masks are thought to be not needed, is when a new cluster starts. NOT when folks are out in public and masked up while doing their daily business.

Yet, CDC has already known, from what contract tracing studies have shown, that most infections are NOT obtained casually, but during CLOSE contact in an enclosed space for some sustained period of time.

As to masks, I think the same applies. A doctor puts on a mask for surgery, then replaces it when he gets to the next patient. (At least, my doctor does. The office help is wearing any old thing with many of them wearing it below their nose or hanging from a strap.) You can tell the office staff has had it with wearing masks all day.

Also, during a long surgical event, they will most likely change masks more than once. No doctor would wear the same mask for 8 hours straight.

No shirt, no shirt, no masks, no service.

There is a huge difference between an individual business saying, the above on their own, and those same businesses doing so due to government coercion. It is the latter I object to. The former can simply do without my patronage.

Just a few days ago, a story on one of the local (Seattle area) news stations claimed that masks decreased the chances of contracting the virus by 40-80%. I thought that the huge amount of wiggle room between the upper and lower estimates was suspicious, and that a truly scientific analysis would have had much more precision.

Now, it seems that one CDC analysis showed the reduced risk to be only about 15%, even though it was based on a small sample. I wonder what sampling and what evidence was behind the 40-80% figure.

Another aspect is the time factor. The study cited in this story looked back at the previous two weeks before the test, but it's possible that over a longer time period the benefit of the masks would be even less.

How do you know she didn’t have Covid?

She's negative for the anti-bodies. She's never had it.
