HOUSTON (KXAN) -- President Trump is planning a Texas-sized tailgate before his Houston Make-America Great Again rally scheduled at the Houston Toyota Center on Monday. His campaign decided to host what they are calling the 'Big Texas Tailgater' after receiving 100,000 requests for tickets to the previously planned rally with Ted Cruz. The tailgate party will feature food trucks, music by the Marcus Eldridge Band and the Will Carter Band, appearances by Trump Campaign spokespeople and big screens to see President Trump’s speech. “Texas is big and so will be the turnout for our MAGA rally in Houston, Texas Monday,”...

Not sure if I'm posting this correctly, but we just got home from a Ted Cruz campaign townhall in Webster, Texas. Out daughter is an intern on the campaign and she is the one that suggested the location and organized it. I'm pretty proud of her. The event was organized on very short notice. The turnout was standing room only, with people parking blocks away. Senator Cruz had a strong message, and his stance is pretty common sense. O'Rourke is an open borders, sanctuary city, socialist, gun grabbing leftist that is as far left as you can get. His message...

Charles Krauthammer, a longtime Fox News contributor, Pulitzer Prize winner, Harvard-trained psychiatrist and best-selling author who came to be known as the dean of conservative commentators, has died. He was 68. His death had been expected after he wrote a heartbreaking letter to colleagues, friends and viewers on June 8 that said in part “I have been uncharacteristically silent these past ten months. I had thought that silence would soon be coming to an end, but I’m afraid I must tell you now that fate has decided on a different course for me… ““Recent tests have revealed that the cancer...

TCMS tradition was broken last year for two very good reasons. That, by default, started a new tradition ~ holding the shoot in the same location! I only fought a little bit to go back to original idea of not going to the same range in consecutive years. The wise ole planning committee feels that the TCMS has found its home. The TXMS VIII shoot will be held at Hicksville Gun Range, in Gatesville, TX on October 6th, starting at 10:00 a.m. Where once again we can enjoy the range dogs, the owners and lunch provided by our own cook,...

I have an important announcement of interest to long-time FReepers: FReeper GladesGuru, ecologist, and private property advocate, has died from complications due to prostate cancer. He was 75. Jan (pronounced “Yanâ€) Jacobson was a man of acerbic wit who could cut to the bottom line with a merciless precision. Pity the bureaucrat or academic peddling questionable “facts†under his scrutiny. His passion was wildlife biology and its relation to habitat. For over thirty years, he was Director of the Everglades Institute, a private parcel within the Big Cypress National Preserve, immediately adjacent to Everglades National Park. The parcel is unusual...

It's an anniversary of sorts -- and should be something of a national holiday. Twenty years ago, Jim Robinson became FReeper #1 on this website, and we all are much the better for it. I found FreeRepublic.com via my news aggregator at the time, The Drudge Report. Quickly I lost interest in that site in favor of this my new home page. I found that Freerepublic is just not a news aggregator, but an intelligence aggregator. Thanks to the overwhelming diversity of interests amongst the FReeper community, we can go from the smallest subatomic particles to the vastness of inter-gallactic...

Two places to donate money to help the California fire victims! All of your money will go to that effort! The family that owns Hall’s Winery has started a matching fund drive to help the people in the fire areas needing financial aid. Every $ donated will be matched and will go to help those in need and not line some rich liberal so called charity’s pockets! Many of the evacuees left their homes at night with minimal clothing and basically what money they might have had at home. Many will have no homes to return to and maybe no...

The President is listed as an “unconfirmed” speaker at this week’s upcoming Values Voter Summit at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C. The president spoke at last year’s summit just before winning the 2016 presidential election. Gary Bauer, President of American Values and coordinator of the event, says that he expects the president to receive a warm welcome from this year’s values voters. “I worked with these types of voters for a long, long time. I think the reaction will be incredibly positive. Quite frankly it will be the kind of reaction that some of our congressional leaders could only...
