"The Jerusalem Clock is hidden in London today," Fatah, the political movement behind the PLO and the Palestinian Authority, asserts in a post titled, "Jerusalem Stolen Clock". It goes on to claim that the British military ordered the clock tower dismantled. Then the "British moved the clock first to a new tower across from the municipality of Jerusalem, and transferred it to the British Museum in London, to become the famous British icon, 'Big Ben'." How did Big Ben, which was built in 1859, become a Muslim clock tower from the 20th century? There are some other slight differences between...

After Big Ben clocked himself at London’s finish, his day only got worse. Dressed as Big Ben, London marathoner Lukas Bates hoped to break a record for running as the famed clock. But he found time was not on his side at the finish. His costume was too large to fit under the scaffolding of the finis, and bending down to try to fit under didn’t really help, either. His 3:54:21 finish was not enough to beat the standing record for running dressed as a landmark—3:34:34—and videos of him trying to get his costume across the line went viral. And...

Britain's much-loved Big Ben will fall silent for four years from next week as conservation work is carried out on the famous 19th century bell in a clock tower next to the Houses of Parliament. "This essential programme of works will safeguard the clock on a long term basis, as well as protecting and preserving its home -- the Elizabeth Tower," he said. It will be the longest period...

Kim Jong Un building 'mini world' with replica Big Ben and Eiffel Tower Chubby tyrant Kim Jong Un is building a “miniature world” in North Korea – with a replica of London's Big Ben at its heart. The dictator is set to open the theme park in capital Pyongyang – and has included the iconic clock tower. The new attraction, which opens this year, will also boast a copy of Paris’ Eiffel Tower. The secretive state famously doesn’t allow its citizens to leave the country – so it appears Jong Un has decided to bring the world to his people....

LONDON, -- A group of British legislators want to rename one of London's most famous landmarks, Big Ben, to honor Queen Elizabeth II. In an early day motion, 23 members of Parliament said renaming the east tower of the Houses of Parliament the Elizabeth Tower would be an appropriate gesture in her Diamond Jubilee Year, The Guardian reported. LONDON - Big Ben's bongs fell silent Saturday as workers rappelled down Parliament's iconic clock tower, beginning a month of maintenance work on the clock and its world-famous bell. Time briefly stood still as the clock's hands were frozen shortly after 8 a.m. They then were wound to 12 o'clock as a team of specialist "industrial rope-access technicians" descended to clean the clock's four latticework faces, part of maintenance ahead of its 150th anniversary in 2009. Although the clock soon will be ticking again, the famed bell that sounds the hour at Britain's Houses of Parliament will be silent for...

This is not a reposting of a specific Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article though parts of it and another article will be quoted here and links provided to the originals.
