Interesting article... while staying home with kids is great if that is something the family thinks is important I don't necessarily equate that with having values. Having values is something different to me -- it is much more than that. This looks like something crafted by the DNC to combat their anti-values image.
My take is that it's bad for democrats... they aren't energized about sKerry. Imagine waiting in line for several hours (if turnout is as high as anticipated by the MSM) in the rain and cold to vote for someone you aren't that passionate about.
On the other hand, the republican base is generally more passionate about our candidate. That combined with a strong GOTV effort should work in our favor.
This is great news... the Bush campaign and republicans will have enough people on hand to combat potential fraud and continue on with the GOTV efforts :)
I don't understand the comment about Wisconsin! The economy here is great -- unemployment is below the national average. If you look at areas outside of Madison or Milwaukee, they are trending conservative. It will be close... like last time but the GOTV efforts in this state are really strong!!
My only concern is voter fraud... students voting multiple times and homeless people being bribed with cigarettes just like in 2000.
Imagine you're a 20 year old college student who generally doesn't care about politics but went to a rally to see P.Diddy and he told you to vote. You show up on election day and the lines are really long. The wait could be 3-4 hours, maybe more. You have a big paper to write and a test to study for. Do you stay in line waiting to vote or do you give up??
I think a lot of the apathetic sKerry supporters would be more inclined to walk away than to stand in line for a long time. Especially if it's cold outside or the weather is bad.
I've been active with the 72 hour efforts for my state (WI) and county, making hundreds of phone calls so far and I am also planning to volunteer all day on Tuesday as a poll watcher.
Helping with the campaign is a lot of fun and I hope that anyone who isn't already involved will get out and make a difference! It's not too late to get involved :)
