How does U.S. Sen. Scott Brown win re-election in this blue state? Massachusetts Republicans win when the Democrat is damaged, such as U.S. Rep. John Tierney, who had no idea that his wife was filing false tax returns for the family gambling ring. Victory is also possible when it is an open seat, such as the 4th Congressional District, finally being vacated by Congressman Barney Frank. And Brown proved that Republicans can defeat a well-entrenched Democrat when the opposition is arrogant, elite and has a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease. While Marsha Coakley and Lizzy Warren share the same personal...

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States. Sarah Palin

I am very, very excited about the upcoming road trip for my book. It will be an honor to meet as many of you as possible! “Going Rogue” publisher HarperCollins is working hard to schedule book signings across the nation, and we’ll be announcing the locations in the next day or two. I’ve decided to travel to cities outside of the typical book tour venues, and I hope to cover as much of the country as I can. We’re in the process of arranging interviews with local and national media. An interview with Oprah Winfrey is already scheduled, and I’m...

The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now. The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help...

Tomorrow begins an important week for Alaskans. On Monday, state lawmakers will meet to override my veto of stimulus funds. As Governor, I did my utmost to warn our legislators that accepting stimulus funds will further tie Alaska to the federal government and chip away at Alaska’s right to chart its own course. Enforcing the federal building code requirements, which Governor Parnell and future Governors will be forced to adopt in order to accept these energy funds, will eventually cost the state more than it receives. There are clear ropes attached, and Alaskans will soon find themselves tied down by...

On her Facebook page, former Governor Sarah Palin referred to several articles questioning Obama's push for healthcare reform: "As Americans spend the next few weeks discussing health care reform, I thought it might be helpful to share some articles (and one panel discussion video) that I’ve found especially insightful. Washington Post editorial, July 26, 2009 “The Health-Care Sacrifice: What President Obama needs to tell the public about the cost of reform” But Mr. Obama's soothing bedside manner masks the reality that getting health costs under control will require making difficult choices about what procedures and medications to cover. It will...

From Sarah Palin's Facebook page: As repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week, former Governor Sarah Palin is not committed to attend the Simi Valley Republican Women’s event at the Reagan Library and in fact is not attending the event. Neither the Governor’s state staff nor SarahPAC has ever committed to attending this event or speaking at this event, and even requested that the Governor's name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago. The Governor has other work and commitments to take care of at that time. She looks forward to visiting her friends in...

February 1, 2009, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sarah Palin this weekend met with business, economic and political leaders in the nation’s capital to discuss problems she sees for Alaska with the pending economic stimulus package in Congress. "Alaska and other states need to be treated fairly,” Governor Palin said. “Much of the stimulus plan we've seen focuses on spending for government programs that would be a burden on states to continue funding, and doesn't focus enough on spending that actually does put people back to work and stimulate the economy. Working with our D.C. staff, I took advantage of the...

Olympic great Michael Phelps acknowledged "regrettable" behavior and "bad judgment" after a photo in a British newspaper Sunday showed him inhaling from a marijuana pipe. In a statement to The Associated Press, the swimmer who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games did not dispute the authenticity of the exclusive picture published Sunday by the tabloid News of the World. "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment," Phelps said in the statement released by one of his agents. "I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted...

WASHINGTON (SR) - Angry Republican senators vowed Thursday to put up a fight against President Barack Obama's economic stimulus bill after the package passed the House of Representatives with no opposition support. In a briefing with several of his colleagues, Republican Senator Jon Kyl called the bill "a stinking, bloated, quivering pile of liberal pork." Kyl outlined some of the "extras" in the Democrat's bill: $144 million for a Che Guevara memorial in San Francisco. $949 million for gay, bi, and transsexual oriented preschools. $1.8 billion for ACORN. $22 million for a PBS special "Obama: The First Two Weeks." $437...

Like a Nixonian Nanook of the North, Sarah Palin emerged from her igloo this week whining, griping, giving me an excuse to trash her again and you an excuse to call me unspeakable names in the comment section beneath this story online.

By Friday afternoon, Gov. Sarah Palin had already left sunny and warm Miami, as well as the cold shoulder she got from at least one governor running for president, to return to freezing but politically warmer Alaska. Palin skipped the governors’ vote this morning that elected, HUMAN EVENTS has just learned, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford the new chair of the Republican Governors Association, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour vice-chair, and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist chair of the RGA’s February 2009 Annual Gala in Washington, D.C. HUMAN EVENTS was first to report yesterday that RGA Chair, Texas Gov. PORTLAND, Ore. - Authorities have arrested two men after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a 4-foot by 8-foot campaign sign for Republican presidential candidate John McCain in a southeast Portland yard. Karen Scrutton said she was asleep inside her home at 7956 S.E. 17th Ave. in the Sellwood neighborhood when she saw her sign go up in flames after 1 a.m. "I screamed upstairs to my husband, 'Jean! Jean!" she said. A neighbor heard a crash and chased off one of the suspects. Jean Scrutton said his son-in-law found another suspect not far away.

Check out the end of the story for the payoff quote. The Public Safety Commissioner thinks Wooten is a not a bad cop. Great judgment there, Walt. No wonder you got reassigned. I would have booted your ass out the door, too.

I was talking to a fellow conservative today and we were discussing Palin's political future if the ticket goes down to defeat in November. Where does she go from here? Obviously, she must win a second term as Governor of Alaska. But I don't think it makes sense for her to run as a VP nominee again in 2012, as she would be part of a losing ticket in 2008. Do you think she will be seasoned/informed enough on the national issues to pose a serious threat to Obama in 2012? Let's face it, McCain's campaign allowed her to be...
