Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has endured recent speculation about his job security, and while he's not expected to return to the team for next season, his job isn't in jeopardy for this season, according to a report Sunday from Cbssports.com's Jason La Canfora. The Ravens entered their Week 10 bye in third place in the AFC North with a 4-5 record, with their next game one week from Sunday at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals defeated the Ravens, 34-23, in September to improve to 2-0 this season.

Louisville fired head coach Bobby Petrino on Sunday, the school annonced. The Cardinals are 2–8 in 2018, losing 54-23 to Syracuse on Friday. Petrino's buyout is "estimated to be in the $14 million range" per Forde. "We want to thank Bobby for guiding our football program to some of the better seasons we have had historically at UofL," Vince Tyra, Lousiville's vice president and director of athletics, said in a statement. "However, at this time we feel the program needs different leadership and we owe it to our student-athletes and fans to turn this around."
  • Fredette won't go away after scoring 75 points in China

Jimmer Fredette will never fail to be relevant. He's like the Tim Tebow of basketball, except instead of switching sports, he just switched countries. On Saturday, he dropped 75 points on some pretty ridiculous shooting numbers to go along with seven assists for the Shanghai Sharks. However, Pierre Jackson put an end to his celebration when he hit a game-winner for the Beijing Fly Dragons.
  • Alabama Didn’t Look Great In War With Mississippi State (24-0)

Call it what you will, but this game against Mississippi was a war. They gave Alabama their toughest challenge so far this season, especially the tough Bulldog defense. And in this game, Alabama won, but didn’t look great in doing it. For the comfort of the Mississippi State fans, an objective writer must admit that Miss. State was not just playing Alabama, but the refs. Two critical mistakes could have made the game more exciting and perhaps made the game much closer. The first was was Damien Harris’ no called fumble that clearly was a fumble and the second was...

The ending of No. 7 LSU's 24-17 win over Arkansas gave bettors in Las Vegas quite a scare on Saturday. The Tigers closed as 13-point favorites and held a seven-point lead with just over a minute left, when senior tailback Nick Brossette ran 16 yards and fell down in bounds at the seven.
  • 10 takeaways from a survive-and-advance Saturday in college football

Ten takeaways from a survive-and-advance Saturday in college football: 1. All playoff contenders coming into the weekend remain College Football Playoff contenders coming out of the weekend. The top 10 teams in the selection committee rankings, plus undefeated No. 12 Central Florida, all won. The closest escape was No. 6 Oklahoma by a point over unranked Oklahoma State, in a defense-optional Bedlam game in Norman. The Sooners gave up 47 points and 640 yards to the 5-5 Cowboys, but produced 48 points and 702 yards of their own. They held for the win when Mike Gundy’s Holgorsen Moment failed —...

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following: "We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida .. "Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because they don't know who they are anymore. "They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it...
  • Twitter reacts to Louisville falling apart (again) as Syracuse rolls

The Louisville Cardinals have completely fallen apart this season. Last Saturday’s loss to Clemson was one of the most embarrassingly inept performances we’ve seen in ages, but on Friday night the Cardinals were at it again with a comedy of errors on the road against Syracuse. At the time of this writing, it’s not quite yet halftime but Louisville is down on the scoreboard, 37-7. We’ve seen a bad play on special teams, a complete meltdown defensively and an unforced fumble that deserved the “Benny Hill” theme song.
  • Las Vegas Sportsbook Sets Bills as 28.5-Point Favorites in Hypothetical Matchup With Alabama

The Bills and Crimson Tide have existed on opposite planes in their respective leagues this season with Buffalo sitting in the AFC East cellar at 2–7 and Alabama cruising toward an undefeated season at 9–0. It's a common practice to compare the best college team to the dregs of the NFL and while the debate can provide a fun parlor game, it exists fully as a hypothetical. Yet despite the lack of on-field feasability, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook is bringing a touch of reality to the matchup by setting the Bills as 28.5-point favorites against Alabama per OddsShark.
  • A College Started a Tackle Football Team. For Little Guys.

In much of the United States, this is an era of disappearing tackle football programs. Tightening budgets and concerns about safety and liability have combined to spell the end of football at colleges like Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y., and St. Mary’s College of California. Then there is St. Thomas Aquinas, a 65-year-old college founded by Dominican nuns, which is currently running a counter play. It started a football program this season instead of ending one. The move, part of a strategy to increase male enrollment, not really one to compete for gridiron glory, came with a wrinkle: At St. Thomas...

The Watch Grid motto: every college football weekend is a good college football weekend. Time to put that to the test! Week 11 boasts shockingly few real stakes, at least until the upsets start happening. The upsets gods must find a way to see us through. Below, the Watch Grid attempts to sort your weekend by watchability. As always, watchability is not determined by the quality of your favorite football team, because such glory cannot be contained within a spreadsheet of any size.

Nostrils flare dripping with venomous anger, the eyes are big, onyx and lifeless; crimson blood pours from its back consecrating the arena; the front hooves beat the ground relentlessly as dust, sweat and rage hang heavy in the afternoon sun; it snorts and roars with contempt; the head, crowned with piercing horns, is lowered; and the pent-up energy is unleashed with a furious charge at the taunting matador who turns on his axis elegantly to enshroud the incensed bull in his blood red cape as man and beast engage in a choreographed macabre dance of death. • Texas Head Coach Tom Herman Might Be the Biggest Sore Loser in College Football

Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman might be a good football coach, but over the past few weeks, he's continued to reveal himself as quite a sore loser. Herman's Texas squad lost a close game to West Virginia on Saturday after Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier threw a last-minute touchdown and then ran the ball in on a two-point conversion with 16 seconds left on the clock to win 42-41 in Austin. It was a fantastic, gutsy call from West Virginia's head coach Dana Holgorson and it paid off, but here's how Herman responded postgame.
