Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will remain under care at an inpatient rehabilitation facility with no known timetable for his release after he suffered a rib fracture and concussion. McConnell, 81, was discharged from hospital in mid-March on receiving treatment for tripping at a reception and private dinner at a Washington, DC, hotel hosted by the Senate Leadership Fund. According to his office, McConnell continues to undergo physical therapy to improve his physical wellness. It’s unknown when he might be ready to return to his vigorous Senate responsibilities.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The intruder who attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband in their San Francisco home was searching for the Democratic leader, shouting “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?” before assaulting Paul Pelosi with a hammer. That was a chilling echo of the chants during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol, when rioters trying to stop Joe Biden’s election searched menacingly through the halls for the speaker. Discovery of what was described as a “suspicious package” outside the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC, Sunday morning sparked an urgent call out for U.S. Capitol Police. Fox News reports the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency announced a road closure on Independence Avenue between Washington Avenue SW and First Street SE just after 8 a.m.. Capitol Police are investigating a suspicious vehicle in front of the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning, a day after the court convened for a new session. A notice from the Capitol Police’s Twitter account shortly before 10 a.m. urged people to stay away from the area. NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston International Airport has been evacuated and passengers were told to deplane on Wednesday after a package was deemed suspicious by authorities. Passengers at the airport said they were told to quickly leave the airport and were directed to the parking garage area. MIAMI (CBS12) -- A flight from Paris is being held on the tarmac at Miami International Airport due to a suspicious item. Miami-Dade Police are investigating the item on board American Airlines flight 63 from Paris. There are 214 people on board. The search by the bomb squad is not impacting other operations at the airport. The plane has been moved to a remote area of the airport for the investigation, according to Miami-Dade Aviation Department Communications Director Greg Chin.
