Just a thought.
It occurred to me that those on FR need a place to discuss religion, religious thought, denominal issues all things religious without worrying about hurt feelings or bruised egos.
This would be a bare knuckle discussion.
If you have thin skin or are easily offended it would be better not to participate.
That's a good observation. It's a peculiarity of our culture that fervent enthusiasm over naked women, sports, or even patriotism is considered praiseworthy, while fervent worship of God is considered vulgar or hypocritical.
I’m sure that’s what you believe, but what about those people that God created, that do not believe that?
Actually, it is being born again that allows you to “turn your heart to the Lord.” Before that you are spiritually dead.
That’s pretty obvious, seeing that I’ve asked dozens of questions.
I will say again; I believe in one God, and He is capable of anything.
Your turn. If you do not want to or cannot answer, I will understand.
How do you know God doesn’t have more than one word?
I define God as capable of all things. You seem to limit Him to operating only within your beliefs.
I am a Christian who has not hit rock bottom and claimed to be born again. I have not lowered myself to qualify to be born again...lol.
You need to ask God yourself about that..
I have no answers other than those God gives me in His word..
Jhn 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:15:18
The truth is there is but one God.
If all faiths were equal, then my faith would be incorrect and so would many others, there for unnecessary.
Let's play the opposite game a bit. Are Satanism or Wicca faiths, if so then they are equal and their evil practices should be allowed.
Islam is a faith, it teaches in their own holy book they must subdue or destroy non believers. Therefore 9/11 was a simple act of an equal faith and should be overlooked in order to allow for tolerance.
Trying to please everyone become a slippery slope, one that the Evil love so. Why do you think liberalism is so allowing and tolerant.
The problem with man is sin. Gods holy nature is incompatible with sin. Mankind is incapable of solving its sin problem. We sin even when we try not to, and we have no means of cleansing ourselves. The only solution was for God, in the form of Jesus, to become a man. He lived among us without sinthe only person in the history of the world to do so and then He gave His life on the cross as a propitiation for the sins of all mankind. By His blood we can now be cleansed, IF by faith we accept His free gift. No other person who ever lived solved the sin problem. Muhammad was too busy raping and murdering to even think about it. Buddha died, but not as a sacrifice on behalf of mankind, and he was not resurrected. Only Jesus offersand is able to offereternal life with Himself in heaven. You may not like it; you may not believe it. But thats the way it is.
PS: As C. S. Lewis said, what you think of God isnt the issue. Its what He thinks of you. You can strategize all day about what you think He is and can or cant do. It doesnt matter. He has chosen to reveal Himself in the Bible, and in the Bible He also offers a way of salvation. Take it or leave it.
Your post in #211 said it perfectly. I can add little to it.
Did it ever occur to you that not everyone is willing to put your interpretation of the Bible on equal footing with the existence of God?
It doesn’t matter to me. I will state what I know to be the Truth, which is Jesus Christ. Others are free to agree, disagree, or reject it. What they do or say will not change what I believe.
I’ve got no problem with that.
Well I should mention that I have been enriched by all your posts. You have remained kind and responsive, and you come across as very knowledgeable. I am still amazed at your story of the car crash. What a story! Thanks so much for sharing it.
Christianity is the one and only faith where the Holy One actually gives to his faithful instead of takes. He gave his Son, and he gave his grace and only asks that we believe in him. From that he knows we will do what is right, will act and behave as we should, and follow his example, because his spirit then dwells within us.
In all other faiths, the “god” figure makes demands, takes from their followers then tells them they may or may not see heaven. Their “god” basically says “here's a list, get these things done and I may let you in”. Their “god” is a greedy one, and the only other spiritual entity with any real power out there in reality is the evil one himself. He is the one who is always interested in taking, ultimately the very souls themselves. Who then would be the entity in charge of these other faiths, the ones that like to “take” from their adherents...
I appreciate that FRiend.
As amazing as my survival in that crash was, it was just one of the many ways, every day (and night) that God chooses to manifest Himself in response to a plea for mercy, help, or deliverance, and He would have been more than justified to have just let me be snuffed out. I remain a sinner saved by Grace and His Blood.
I would say also, that your posts are of enormous encouragement to me and to anyone seeking the answer to that eternal question “What must I do to be saved?”
May the Lord be with you FRiend.
Best,
MKJ
No I don’t. I want to ask people here on FR, not God. I ask others about their beliefs, and see what they say. If you can’t or don’t want to answer, just say so.
Now, now, don’t start taking your own opinions seriously as fact, no one else does it appears. And no I don’t have time to do something that you want me to do just to reinforce your opinions.
“cute”? Since the word is an aphetic form of “acute”, meaning,’mentally sharp, alert’, yeah, I’ll accept that term even if is subjective. (When you come back I’ll deal with the difference between subjective/objective/ as it relates to accuracy of statement.)
You may now return to your “1rudeboy”ness.
