Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

But to make it about religion makes you look like a bigot.
That is beneath and doesn’t hold up to conservative scrutiny.
***Since when? Notice that in the article that started this thread, JimRob says ‘go ahead and call me a bigot’. It is every voter’s right to consider religion of a candidate. Not voting for someone whose religion is built on principles directly in opposition to your own is not bigotry. How would you vote if there were a NAZI antisemite running for office?

I get very nervous with people not of my church who want to lecture me that “My Church” teaches me against another religion, or that another religion teaches against “My Church”

Get back to me when YOU plan on converting to “My Church”. Until then you will not tell me who to fear, hate or anything else.

What a bunch of crap by a crowd of Mormon haters.

I’m still waiting for Elsie to tell me because she absolutely expressed concern for my soul, whether Catholics and Jews engage in “False Teaching”.

You know damn well Elsie has no more religious tolerance in thend for a Catholic than for a Mormon. But maybe Elsie will prove me wrong with a straight answer to the question.

And BTW all those lecturing me that Mormonism taught against my Catholic religion, what all did Martin Luther and his followers say about “my religion”??

And what did “my church” teach for huindreds of years about Protestantism? Who the heck do you think you are kidding?

Are you now following Catholic doctrine????

I strongly dislike Marxists. They have this THING against religion...

By inference I suspect you are talking about Obama. But how would you know he is a Marxist. He professes to be a Christian. We should not be allowed to question him by your reasoning. We should simply take him at his word. Religion is off the table, right?

It shouldn't matter what his record is either. Like Mitt, we must assume since he professes a love of God, that he has truly had a change of heart. We must judge him by whatever he says and not by his record.

AND THAT'S the point Jim has been trying to make. Mitt Romney's record is atrocious. Regardless of his Mormonism, Mitt is a two-faced political whore.

Now we have to look at Mitt's decision making. He believes in a specious religion that only 1% of the nation believes in - that goes to his discernment. It is lacking. And how do we know that? By having discussions about what Mormonism is.

This ALL goes to who Mitt is. You only want us to speak in sweetness and light so that we can get rid of the Marxist. Others of us think Mitt is just as bad.

All things should be open for discussion. It's the ideas that win in the marketplace of free speech. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Mitt is a great guy. But squelching discussion is a bad, bad, thing. Calling anyone who disagrees with something a "hater" is a libs way of squelching discussion.

The Founders recognized this, and immortalized it in the very first amendment to the Constitution. Why don't you?

That was in 2004 halfway through his term of office

for the next 2 years he was absent from MASS quite a bit...

he had already started on the campaign trail..

BTW that suddenly deserting everyone who depended on him to fullfill his promises is an obsessive trait of Willards

he did the same to his partners at Bain in Feb 1999

He up and walked out on them to got to Utah and take over the Olympics...

he left them high and dry...

When he gets offered control of the UN will he up and leave the White house and leave us high and dry ???

Heres hoping...

Until then you will not tell me who to fear, hate or anything else.

I didn't, you just made that up.

I asked a simple question of a defender of Mormonism, who claims to be a Catholic.

"Do you know that your church officially labels Mormonism as a non-Christian religion, a unique religion of it’s own, created by Joseph Smith?"

Did you know that? Do you know what Pope John II's pronouncement on whether Mormonism is a Christian religion was?

Yet here you are, fighting for Mormonism and attacking Christians.

Let’s be real, FR has taken on an anti Mormonism trend and there is no flood of Mormons pushing their faith here.
***You said it’s not your issue. You’ve basically been ignoring it. In the midst of your ignorance, there has been a lot going on. For instance, here on FR the mormons lost their ‘caucus’ and other tag privileges on the religion forum because they abused those privileges. All while you were reading FR every single day. The religion mod on FR is the fairest mod we could hope for, so for him to take the step of removing privileges it’s because of utterly obvious behavior. But you missed it, all the whole time you were reading FR every single day for 14 years.

Not saying there are not a few.
***I do not understand this sentence. Please clarify.

They’re in the majority. Nah... They’re just very noisy.
***JimRob himself has posted that he thinks 10% of freepers are with him on not voting for a lying, babykilling statist. If you count those as the core, then that means 90% are unprincipled conservatives. I don’t think Jim has the numbers right, I think it’s 30% or so. Sure there are “conservatives” who will vote for the lying, babykilling statist because they think they have no choice and 0bama is so evil. But for the most part we are outnumbered about 2:1 by CINOs right here on FR.

We are supposed to see people in the moment and how they live and believe now.
***We are supposed to? Who’s doing the supposing? Discerning a politician based on his record is utterly conservative. Where you get this stuff, I don’t know, but it’s way off.

Dude, I was on this thread a long time before the 4000’s. And my issue isn’t Mormonism, and I din’t defend Mormonism. It’s a non issue.

Your second post on this thread was already about Mormonism and Joseph Smith, that was Saturday, and here you are, fighting tooth and nail in behalf of Mormonism while attacking non-Catholic Christians.

I mean really, I’m on Free Republic for 14 years and it’s got to the point where people are OFFENDED by the statement that my main issue is defeating Barack Hussein Obama, leftist socialist democrat and marxist.
***Really? Where? JimRob says he aint voting for a lying, babykilling statist and neither am I. But to actually get OFFENDED that your main issue is to defeat Obama, where did that happen?

I don’t believe you are catholic. You refuse to see what the Catholic church has to say about mormonism. Perhaps you should contact your priest, if you have one and tell him your feelings about the cult.

Man, if people paid attention to G-d’s true word instead of constantly trying to rewrite it, there would be a lot less strife in the world.
***I agree. The mormon rewriting of scripture is loathsome.

I’m not defending Mormonism or attacking Christians. But I never get a straight answer when I bring up my religion, do I?

Yet every one of you want to lecture me about the doctrines of “my religion”. Meanwhile, duh, you have as much respect for Catholocism as for Mormonism or Judaism.

When you become a Roman Catholic get back to me. Until then I can tell you my religion does not ever engage in the level of vitriol displayed here.

I’m still waiting for Elsie to answer about whether my religion and Judaism engage in false teachings. Because Elsie wrote a post a mile long insisting that false teachings matter and that is her concern about Mormonism.

Jews do not engage in false teaching by rejecting Christ as God?

And protestants would not reject Catholocism for “false teachings”?

And Catholics would not reject Martin Luther as a “false teacher?”

Yeah, I could see Willard at the UN, easily.

The book did talk about him using the position of MA governor as nothing but a stepping stone. One person who worked with him said everybody thought it would have been very nice if Romney had actually spent more time doing the job he was elected to do instead of taking off to further his ambitions.

I didn’t know he did the same thing at Bain, but I’m not surprised.

You don’t believe I’m a Catholic? Because I don’t listen to you, a non Catholic bigot?

I don’t believe you’re a human. Prove me wrong.

Maybe we can get together and you can try to tell me then that I’m not a member of my religion. How far do you think that will get you?
