In Defense of Men...

Am I the only one who has noticed the sort of cultural trend, if you will, to portray men as generally stupid in commercial advertising? Let me give you a few examples:

#1. Stanley Steemer – The nationwide carpet cleaning company has a recent commercial advertisement that blatantly makes the male husband-figure appear to behave like a bumbling idiot. The audio in the commercial states, “Kids, pets, teens and husbands – ever wonder how you can keep your house clean? Call today about our $99 special.” The images that accompany the audio include kids jumping on a leather couch, a teenage male spilling food on his lap, a muddy golden retriever running through the kitchen, and then the “husband” who is seen blending a purple smoothie without the lid on the blender. As expected, a major mess ensues and he is standing their dumbfounded at how this could possibly happen to him.

Really? A man can’t figure out how that last simple step of putting the lid on the blender? Though it may be fleeting, and you might think I’m nitpicking, just check out some of these other examples.

Home Depot tends to be fairly odious in this respect, also.

We need men. Men are wonderful. Many of them are very intelligent, sensitive, strong, loyal, respectable people. Sure, they have their flaws, but so do women. Women are just as stupid, trust me.

AMEN!!!!

This is why I hardly ever watch teevee or movies.

My kids have noticed it also, and it irritates them too.

A new and troubling trend indeed.

NOT!

I think most of us have noticed this trend over the last couple of decades. It’s real, and it’s entrenched.

The feminazis of the 70s and 80s made it socially acceptable to attack men, which had the unintended consequence of cementing the idea that men were reprehensible creatures who deserved derision.

That, of course, led to the ubiquitous images we see today of bumbling, awkward, and incompetent men as the stable datum.

It’s nothing more than a long-term leftist attack on the nuclear family. Remove the man from his traditional place in the family structure and replace him with Big Daddy Government.

I actually tried to watch a TV sitcom several years ago (I usually only watch movies on my Blu Ray/DVD). The title was “The World According To Jim” and starred James Belushi.

It was so insipid I had to turn it off as it portrayed the husband as a dolt and the beautiful wife as a rocket scientist.

Yet through the episode I found out that the husband had a job of some sorts and the wife stayed home. Their home was very nice too, so how could the man be such a twit yet make the requisite money needed to not only have a nice home but allow his wife to not work?

I don't watch much TV any more.

I liked that show better back when it was called, "The Honeymooners."

What is WORSE is Broadview Security - formerly Brinks.

Every single burglar, thug, enraged ex boyfriend is a white male...

I have never seen one commercial of theirs that has a black, or Hispanic/Latino thug, burglar or enraged ex boyfriend and I have seen a dozen different types of their t.v. commercials over the last few years.

This is case despite the overwhelming crime statistics that reveal most - the vast majority of thugs, residential burglars and battering ex boyfriends are black, Hispanic/Latino and then at the bottom of the list White folks.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram publishes every week an array of photos of recently arrested criminals for such crimes (included those wanted by warrants) - those types that Broadview Security systems might deter... AND 90% of them each and every week are black, Hispanic/Latino and then smattering of whites.

This was the case when they operated under the Brinks name too.

OUTRAGEOUS...

With the rise of the women’s movement, men have been made the butt of jokes.

Men have been made to feel sissified by the women’s movement.

Men who are real men are portrayed as neanderthals when the opposite is the case.

Conservative men and conservative women respect one another for the most part and they usually support one another in good times and in bad times. Liberal relationships are much more tenuous, temporary and not really based on anything of a substantial nature. Also, conservative women tend to be a lot better looking than liberal women and the conservative women generally age a lot better too. I think the reason for this is the values, principles and ideals that help make conservative women - and conservative men too - a much better fit especially for long term relationships.

What I notice in commercials is depicting kids as not even up to wimp status -totally useless/helpless and stupid. And yes the dumping of food or the jumping on furniture etc. I know what a company is trying to do, but I know what I do, and it is directly related to the remote. To me it is a distinct negative connotation of what a person should be, adult or otherwise.

Corona can never be the only beer on the planet.

That would require it to be beer.

It's not.

It's skunky llama urine.

This is one reason I refuse to buy anything at Hallmark (or watch their TV specials). They are generally insulting to men.

I see stuff like that all the time too.

I’m not hypersensitive or anything, but I do wonder what the long term affects of this will be on society.

“The feminazis of the 70s and 80s made it socially acceptable to attack men”

I’m not sure I would to that far. I think the reasoning is that they are selling to women. And women often view their husbands as about as helpless as kids. Not that they are, but it makes the women feel better to view themselves as indispensable.

It is part of feminizing and homosexualizing the nation. There is no room for real men. Homos, metros, and effeminate men are acceptable and exalted; all other men are subhuman according to dykes on bikes, homos, hollywood, the old media, and feminazis.
