Jim Tressel had the image of running a clean program when he moved up to OSU from Youngstown State.

Like most big programs he recruited street thugs...never stops amazing how when thugs behave like thugs, the head coach is “surprised”.

He knew early on some were selling OSU trinkets...decided to keep quiet and hope for the best. Big mistake.

>>One thing is certain: everyone in Ann Arbor is very happy!<<

And, like the rest of the country, unsurprised.

Good bye & good riddance...to see if you can really coach, go back to a mid-major of your choice.

I do believe he meant to do good, then he overextended himself. Forgot the lesson - A lie begets another lie.

Once you tell a lie, then you make another lie to cover the earlier lie. Always trouble. I don’t know a person who has not done the same thing.

Tressel - A good guy, but bad choices. You are where you are for the choices you make.

I think he would be a good fit for Texas State University.
(In a good way)

Maybe Tressel will follow in Earle Bruce’s shoes and coach an Arena Football team.

“After several NCAA violations by him or his players over the years, Tressel’s problems deepened after learning several players received cash or discounted tattoos.”

Discounted tattoos ? I don’t have a real dog in this fight, but is this worse than cops getting discounts and free donuts ?

A restaurant I worked at used to cut any uniformed cops’ bills in half.

I thought it was a nice gesture. Never thought it corrupt.

Jim, you played in the wrong conference. You can only get away with this stuff in the SEC. We own the NCAA don’t you know.

That tattoo parlor was busted for drugs and money laundering.I think there’s more to the player’s story?

I’m not sure, but I wonder what police departments’ official policies are on businesses giving discounts/freebied to their officers ? I’d always looked at it as a busniess bribing cops to hang around and scare off potential criminals. Given their generouns retirement packages, it’s not like cops are underpaid.

I guess we are talking about the difference between bribes and respectful gifts, and I suppose there is a fuzzy line.

In the case of my restaurant I don’t think it was considered payment. We weren’t in a bad neighborhood and didn’t need extra police protection.
