>> What gives you reason to expect that this Texas governor is going to produce different results than the last one?

What gives *you* reason to expect that he will be Bush’s twin?

“To all Perry supporters,

I’ve been hearing a lot of whining in response to some legitimate criticisms of Perry’s record over the past couple days. This is called the vetting process, folks! However, in this instance, the conservative media isn’t doing their job! Consequently, some of us are doing it for them.”

Look you condescending ass, freepers don’t need input from newbies who think we need to be helped in judging who to vote for. We can make up our own minds.

What gives *you* reason to expect that he will be Bush’s twin?

He has shown the same contempt for immigration enforcement and even more contempt for the 4th Amendment. He has the same obvious corruption issues (Merck, Cintra). He even has a similar public persona.

Now I ask you again - why should we expect him to be any different?

The Republican establishment felt that they didn’t go far left enough with Juan McCain. So this time they sent in MechaMcCain AKA Rick Perry.

Are you a moron in real life or do you just play one on Free Republic?

Oh, so you are going to go all ad hominum on me now? Is that all you got?

I tried logic, facts, reason and data, but those didn't seem to compute with you. After receiving oh, 7, 8 ad hominem statements from you, I figured that you were just socially limited and that was the only way you could communicate. I see you recognize a familiar pattern, this is good. When you're ready to graduate to a more civilized method of interaction - should that blessed event ever occur - you will find I am more than capable of reciprocating.

Perry is a small-government conservative. Bush is a big-government conservative.

Perry came up from humble beginnings, attended a state college, farmed. Bush was born with a silver spoon, Yale educated, lived as an elite. This puts Perry in closer tune with a different set of values and expectations than Bush.

Perry is an articulate speaker and a much better communicator than Bush ever will be. Given a choice between substance and oratory ability, I’ll take substance (witness Obama). However, Bush had *only* substance. Perry has both substance and communication skill.

Finally, I disagree that Perry “has a similar public persona”. You are buying into the NYT/liberal meme that both are cowboys. Like Bush, Perry is forthright. But Perry is much more accessible, and also has a higher probability of recognizing and dropping a bad idea (unlike Bush, who seemed unable to).

Perry better get everything out on the table NOW because if you people win and he becomes the nominee, the sh*t will hit the fan when the opposition party and media dig into him.

Austin liberals have been trying to dig up dirt on Perry for the past decade.

HUH? Obviously not a Perry statement.

Don’t bother. Perry has my vote. He doesn’t TALK pro-life.
He does Pro-life. I doubt very much AL the ru486 guy would have much in common with Perry today.

You started this conversation way back in post #9; and have yet to deliver.

You are the one who seems to think they can define the “right way to think”
for someone who claims to be a tea partier.

You are making no sense whatsoever to me lately,
so you need to either shut up, or go ahead on and tell me
what is “the right way to think” for a tea partier.

Oh, did I call you a newbie, yet?
You seem to not like that, and I am happy to oblige.

I can't buy that a guy who was going to take a 1100-mile-long swath of his state, displacing homes and farms and dividing communities with a closed-system international highway designed to bypass those communities, using eminent domain to force landowners off their land at less than the Constitutionally-mandated market value is a "small-government" conservative. If you don't agree, we'll have to agree to disagree. That's "Heavy Hand of Government" if there ever was. The whole "treat every 12-year-old girl in the state as if she is a slut, force-inject her with experimental vaccine with unknown long-term effects" thing isn't very small-government, either. When recently given a chance to show his small-government colors, he did the opposite and cynically faked being on the right side of the issue. I speak specifically to the anti-TSA groping bill, which could have put a stop to the 4th Amendment violation factories that the government has turned our airports into. Perry pretended to submit it to the Legislature, but deliberately withheld it until it was impossible for them to vote on it. That's not just not small government, that's outright betrayal. These events speak to a fundamental disagreement on the subject of the proper relationship of government to the people between Perry and myself. The right to be secure in one's person and property is inalienable, there is no room for negotiation. Governor Perry has clearly demonstrated that he does not share this sentiment.

Because these threads happen day after day with the same people participating I am beginning to think you are not even Palin supporters.

Ever see this?

ineluctable

I'm the one who created it.

PS - Palin is coming, and the Tea Party is coming with her.

Please feel free to skip over my comments then. I won’t lose any sleep. Meanwhile, I’m sure some open minded folks are willing to face the truth about Slick Rick. Some of us aren’t willing to sit back and watch an unvetted candidate slip through the cracks. We already went through that in 2008 with Jug Ears.

This is the only site I frequent where you’re still a “newbie” after a year....you condescending ass.

Wow.. all this arguing. The libs must be happy when they come trolling by to see whats up on FR... It seems to me that there is no candidate that is pure enough for conservatives anymore. And as a result of all this infighting amoung us, we will get another destructive 4 years of obama. G-d help us.

In the general the issues to play out will be entirely different than what we will be internally fighting over in the primary wars. The issues in the general will be the economy and American foreign policy intertwined with energy independence. In the primary war, it will be the Tea Party patriots who will define the issues and the agenda. The candidate who is more in line and wins the Tea Party vote, will be the Republican nominee!

No, I don't "skip over comments". You are here to trash Perry and you're too new here to get away with it for long.
