Rick Santorum Convicts Trayvon Martin Shooter On Hannity Show
The Conservative Review ^ | Mar.23, 2012 | Marcus Porcius

Posted on 03/24/2012 8:10:55 AM PDT by Josh Painter

Just moments ago on the Sean Hannity radio show, GOP candidate and RINO Rick Santorum took it upon himself to convict George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin case. He said, and I’m paraphrasing slightly:

*It was a heinous crime and he did a despicable, unjustifiable thing and the Sanford police should have reacted to that immediately.*

Again, I am paraphrasing a little as I did not have a recorder running to get his exact words, but that was essentially his statement.

To further paraphrase, in this case Anti-President Obama, Rick Santorum acted stupidly. He doesn’t know all the facts. He wasn’t there. He hasn’t seen the scene of the shooting. He doesn’t know if there was a disparity of force involved, which justifies using a gun. He doesn’t know who started the fight. He doesn’t actually know anything. Nobody but George Zimmerman actually knows what happened and why. The rest of us will have to wait until the evidence comes out… and it will come out.

But not Rick Santorum. Not when you’re in a race to make sure you don’t get called racist for not being properly outraged that a black teen was shot. No, then you run (don’t walk) to the nearest microphone and to all intents and purpose call George Zimmerman a racist murderer and the Sanford police his accomplices. It’s pathetic and obvious pandering.

If this is an example of his leadership, Rick Santorum has no business in the White House. Not that I thought he did in the first place, of course, but this just confirms it.

Race pandering deserves an F every time.

Based on what is known about the incident, the guy needs to be prosecuted. You can’t chase someone down and then claim self defense.

Clearly, you haven't read the latest news. I fell for the original stories too, but should have known better - especially when being ginned up by the mainstream press. There's much more to the story and evidently Zimmerman has injuries to prove he was attacked and has a witness - which is why he wasn't charged in the first place.

Santorum is a disaster.

Biden makes gaffs.
Santorum believes what he says. Then his supporters come out and complain he was misquoted or misunderstood. There is a big difference.

I can excuse these a few times. This is a regular occurrence with Santorum, so it's who he is.

Imagine this clown as president? God only knows what he'll say. It's time for people to wake up. We need a brokered convention to eliminate these people.

And for the record, I'm not pleased with Newt's response on this either.

I'm no politician, but how about this for a response when asked by the media?

“I am not aware of all the facts of this incident. I only know what is being reported, so it's inappropriate for me to comment further. Let all the facts of the case come out before any one of us comments further and adds negatively to this situation.”

Great a RINO, A corrupt Big Government Republican and now a Race pandering idiot. I don’t care who gets the nomination at this point, I’m writing in Palin with Fred Thompson for VP and Chuck Norris for Secretary of Defense. (I know you don’t vote for SECEDF, but I’ll pencil it in at the bottom of the ballot.

When the 911 operator told Zimmerman to stop following Martin, Zimmerman should have stopped.

If Martin had had a gun, he would have been more justified I’m shooting Zimmerman.

I don’t believe the operator told Zimmerman to stop following Martin.

I believe the operator said he didn’t need to.

Big difference.

Why do you seem to have an agenda about this?

None of us even know what happened yet.

Were Zimmerman’s injuries a result of him threatening Martin? The 911 tape clearly indicates Zimmerman was following Martin. Have you considered that Zimmerman’s injuries were the result of Martin defending himself?

I can also say for sure that the failure to investigate by taking Zimmerman into custody, running drug tests, questioning him, etc is ineptitude of the highest order. Had he wrecked his car he would have even gotten a blood test.

I like your comment, I too wasn’t there BUT I do have experience with Sanford, Fl. And because of that experience I tend to go with Mr. Zimmerman’s account with an easier conscience with the caveat that there just hasn’t been a good enough investigation to set me totally at ease.

Something about his attitude reminds me of Soetoro and when he talks he pisses me off almost every single time. He reminds me of a Democrap.

You admit Zimmerman was following Martin. That is conclusive proof that Martin was no threat to Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is going down.

No, Gingrich has a point. The 911 operator TOLD Zimmerman that the police did not want him following Trayvon, but Zimmerman did not follow their instructions.

Once Zimmerman had notified the police, he should hav3e backed off and let THEM handle it from that point on. But Zimmerman wanted to play cop, though he had no formal training or certification in law enforcement.

Newt was absolutely correct in that Zimmerman had a dangerous hobby. It’s not clear whether he was part of an organized neighborhood watch program or self-appointed. that will come out in the investigation.

But the first rule of such watch programs is always follow the instructions and/or advice of the police. The second rule is do NOT engage someone you consider to be a suspect. You call the police, and let THEM engage.

Interesting. And he could very well have been “in the right”. Quite frankly, even looking at it from Zimmerman’s point of view the police did him no favors by doing nothing. If they had investigated appropriately, it could have exonerated him and kept the Feds out of it.

Thanks for the insight. =)

I gotta say, In 25 years of prosecuting I have never seen such sloppy police work. It’s stunning to me.

The 911 operator TOLD Zimmerman that the police did not want him following Trayvon, but Zimmerman did not follow their instructions.
************************

We absolutely do not know that to be fact.

Trayvon had a phone, he could have called 911 if he was frightened of Zimmerman. Zimmerman had every right to follow Trayvon as Trayvon had to be walking around the complex.

Further:

If Zimmerman was told not to continue to follow Trayvon, can that beconsidered in this investigation?

Yes it will; however, the telecommunications call taker asked Zimmerman “are you following him”. Zimmerman replied, “yes”. The call taker stated “you don’t need to do
that”.

The call taker’s suggestion is not a lawful order that Mr. Zimmerman would be required to follow.

Zimmerman’s statement was that he had lost sight of Trayvon and was returning to his truck to meet the police officer when he says he was attacked by Trayvon.

Well the problem is this ... you can’t decide ANYTHING via news stories.

The police did Zimmerman no favors by not engaging in even basic investigation.

Dispatcher: “Are you following him?”

Zimmerman: “Yeah.”

Dispatcher: “We don’t need you to do that.”

Zimmerman: “OK.”

Also, it appears Trayvon was the first to “engage”:

“Trayvon said, ‘What, are you following me for?’ and the man said, ‘What are you doing here?’ Next thing I hear is somebody pushing, and somebody pushed Trayvon because the head set just fell. I called him again and he didn’t answer the phone.”

We've lost our country. When the President of the United States and the Candidates for President from the other side all fail to stand up for the rule of law then it's over.

Innocent until proven guilty no longer matters, just put someone on trial in the court of public opinion and hang him.

In the end though I feel that NO ONE is going to come out of this unscathed and I mean in the whole country. You might think it strange but I feel like a match has been set to a long fuse and the explosion that comes at the end is going to be a doozy, maybe even devastating.
