(INDIANAPOLIS) - Millions of illegal immigrants are getting a bigger tax refund than you.
Bob Segall, of WTHI reports finding a massive tax loophole that provides billions of dollars in tax credits to undocumented workers and, in many cases, people who have never stepped foot in the United States. And you are paying for it. I nside his central Indiana office, a longtime tax consultant sits at his desk, shaking his head in disbelief.
"There is not a doubt in my mind there's huge fraud taking place here," he said, slowly flipping through the pages of a tax return.
The tax preparer does not want you to know his name for fear of reprisal, but he does want you to know about a nationwide problem with a huge price tag.
He came to 13 Investigates to blow the whistle.
"We're talking about a multi-billion dollar fraud scheme here that's taking place and no one is talking about it," he said.
The scheme involves illegal immigrants -- illegal immigrants who are filing tax returns.
How it works
The Internal Revenue Service says everyone who is employed in the United States - even those who are working here illegally - must report income and pay taxes. Of course, undocumented workers are not supposed to have a social security number. So for them to pay taxes, the IRS created what's called an ITIN, an individual taxpayer identification number. A 9-digit ITIN number issued by the IRS provides both resident and nonresident aliens with a unique identification number that allows them to file tax returns.
While that may have seemed like a good idea, it's now backfiring in a big way.

“Here’s a return right here: we’ve got a $10,3000 refund for nine nieces and nephews,” he said, pointing to the words “niece” and “nephew” listed on the tax forms nine separate times.
“We’re getting an $11,000 refund on this tax return. There’s seven nieces and nephews,” he said, pointing to another set of documents. “I can bring out stacks and stacks. It’s just so easy it’s ridiculous.”

The IRS is simply too busy to look into little cases like these. Their staff is all tied up auditing Tea Party groups and churches...
Beyond what this article exposes of the large numbers of illegals the IRS allows to defraud the American taxpayers, what does it reveal concerning all illegals as a group and their "contribution" to America?
According to the follow excerpt, of the 12-20 million "hardworking, law-abiding, contributing" illegals, only 3 million file tax returns and of those filing the total paid out as tax credits to all illegals is more than the total of taxes paid by all illegals:

According to the US Dept of Treasury’s Inspector General, more than $4.2 billion in additional child credits were paid out in 2010 to illegal immigrants. In 2005, the pay outs totaled $924 million. This program allows low income earners to claim a $1,000 per child credit. $20 billion EITC is estimated to have been paid out to these cunning "impoverished" illegals. Most of them are collecting over and over again-----using multiple identities-----falsifying official apps---claiming children they do not have and/or falsely stating kids are back in their homelands.
REFERENCE March 8, 2012 KENNER, La. -- Kenner police arrested illegal Marvin Baca who sold false W-2 forms to another illegal immigrant for $1,500. Baca sold fraudulent W-2 forms for $1,500 to other Hispanics here illegally.
Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.

Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards.

I heard about this scam a year ago.
A Hispanic acquaintance of mine was chatting with a neighbor at the store, an Illegal Immigrant. The illegal lady described how she went to a storefront tax prep office where they COACHED HER ON HOW TO APPLY FOR A REFUND.
The illegal lady bragged, “I got a check for over $9000 and I didn’t even work last year!”
The IRS needs to send a few undercover agents into storefront tax prep offices and put the perps behind bars for an extended stay...with total asset seizure. Then they need the guy’s client list to prosecute as well.
So naturally they pay no taxes and then file apparently legally for tax credits, which I have always said here is just another for of welfare. It's handing someone other peoples money=welfare.
Not surprising the child tax credit that illegals are filing for their kids in Mexico is a GWB compassionate conservative achievement . By now you should know what I think of him.

The loophole is called the Additional Child Tax Credit. It's a fully-refundable credit of up to $1000 per child , and it's meant to help working families who have children living at home.
But many undocumented workers are claiming the tax credit for kids who live in Mexico - lots of kids in Mexico.
“We've seen sometimes 10 or 12 dependents, most times nieces and nephews, on these tax forms,” the whistleblower said. “The more you put on there, the more you get back.”

You’d love Judge Judy——she gets a lot of “disabled” and EITC scammers. She lacerates the scammers and brilliantly gets them to confess to federal crimes.
One guy was collecting disability—JJ got him to admit he was delivering furniture for a living.
JJ tells her audience-——tens of millions of viewers——that she sends to Congress TV tapes of these scammers confessing.
KEEP IN MIND, this is done over and over, using multiple identities.

I watched her for years. I remember her telling a women who she was sueing that she would not rule against her friend that owed her (or stole her) money that she originally got from a government scam.
Eventually I got bored because she was picking/showing too many boy-friend-girlfriend-loan-gift cases which are all the same and stupid.
Judge Joe Brown is really good at making fun of the scammers of taxpayer money too, and he doesn't have that obsession with asking about child support that JJ does when it has nothing to do with the cases,
