Social scientists have found that by the time children enter kindergarten, there is already a large academic achievement gap between students from wealthy and poor families. We still don't know exactly why that's the case. There's a sense that it at least partly has to do with the fact that affluent mothers and fathers have more intensive parenting sytles—they're more likely to read to their kids, for instance—and have enough money to make sure their toddlers grow up well-nourished, generally cared for, and intellectually stimulated. At the same time, poor children often grow up in chaotic, food-insecure, stressful homes that aren't conducive to a developing mind.
A new study in the journal Nature Neuroscience adds an interesting biological twist to this issue. Using MRI scans of more than 1,000 subjects between the ages of 3 and 20, it finds that children with poor parents tend to have somewhat smaller brains, on some dimensions, than those grow up affluent. Specifically, low-income participants had less surface area on their cerebral cortexes—the gray matter responsible for skills such as language, problem solving, and other higher-order functions we generally just think of as human intelligence. Poorer indviduals in the study also fared worse on a battery of cognitive tests, and a statistical analysis suggested the disparities were related to brain dimensions.
How big a difference are we talking about? According to the researchers, children whose parents earned less than $25,000 per year had 6 percent less surface area on their cortex than those whose parents earned at least $150,000.......

This is the kind of thing that confuses people.
They say... BUT I know someone from a poor family that is brilliant! Yep, it happens! In the world of dog breeding it's called a “sport” And as stated above it is well known that sports when mated often produce litters with many of the undesirable traits of their parents.
Which also confuses people because they also say... BUT I know a family with two brilliant people who have the dumbest kids you have ever seen!
Yeah... because one of their parents was probably a “sport”
Families basically used to manage their own breeding programs through these arranged marriages, to breed out undesirable traits and or to breed-in desired ones.
When people used to say, such and such is from a “good family” what they were really saying was is such and such comes from a pedigreed line of humans with desirable traits for breeding children with a high probability of passing on those desirable traits.
The measured IQs of the children at 17 matched their biological parents much more closely than their adopted parents.
Black children, adopted as babies, into upper middle class white families where they had every advantage, with intelligent parents, tested at the age of 17, had an average IQ of 83.7.

it can't be just to transfer more wealth from producers to the cattle/chattel; that's going as planned. It's almost as if someone wants to set up a permanent class of citizenry that could be excused from certain burdens of life because they were scientifically proven to be at a disadvantage.
A large populace that; does not work, is not held to the same standards of justice, graded & disciplined in school differently... that votes for more and more but never will pay the bills.
Modern humans have experienced a 10% shrinkage in brain volume in the preceding 30k years. Recent studies have documented the gray matter deficits in low socioeconomic children. Both trends are associated with the retention of too much iron in the gray matter and culminates in a long list of neuro-degenerative pathologies. Iron fortification of flour and formula milk was mandated by the FDA in 1940 and 1969. Iron fortification accentuates the 30k year trend in brain shrinkage. Low socioeconomic children are more likely to be subjected to formula milk than are higher socioeconomic children.

Never forget: the only way to breed OUT an undesirable trait, is to remove the individuals with that trait from the breeding pool.

exactly, and historically this was done by parents arranging the marriage of the children to others known to be from bloodlines free of whatever undesired trait they wished to avoid.
So for instance if you had known this other family for your entire life, personally knew the grand parents, the parents and now the child and knew that all of them had been __________ you would seek to arrange a marriage with that family to your own. A few generations of doing this would start to consistently produce children with the desired trait who when matched with others selecting for similar traits would eventually lead to a new “breed” of human so to speak.
If the trait being selected for gave the offspring of such a program a distinct advantage in life a two tiered social system would be the end result. With a few exceptionally gifted individuals breed to be exceptional and everyone else.
This is how the aristocracy was born everywhere in the world.
Maybe now that we have Obamacare, all future children will be having their cerebral cortexes measured, whereby assignments will be posted.
