Probably no one has earned more leeway from conservative voters and pundits than Rush Limbaugh. Rush has been a tireless force for the conservative movement for decades, and he probably is responsible for a whole lot of conservative Republicans who are currently in office. But thankfulness for past service only goes so far, and Rush’s program yesterday officially crossed the line.
When I think about Rush’s last year or so on air, I’m reminded of Marshall Phillipe Petain, one of the most intriguing figures of the twentieth century. Without Petain, the French might not have prevailed over the Germans at Verdun, and thus might have lost World War I. But for as much thanks as France owed Petain for his service in World War I, the full historical reckoning for Petain must acknowledge that Petain was a Nazi collaborator, the leader of Vichy France, and a totalitarian dictator. Petain’s history is complicated, and to tell the whole tale honestly requires acknowledging both the good and the bad.
So it is with Rush. For all he has done, and for all we should be thankful for, it is hard to deny that Donald Trump has brought conservatism to a critical moment. From this moment forward, it will either resemble the vision Rush has preached for thirty years, or it will not. It will either move forward as a recognizable force, or it will be destroyed with Trump in a historic landslide election.
It's more than blather, Cruz is proposing a 16% European socialist style value added tax. That alone should disqualify him from consideration by conservative voters. And enlarge the role of the IRS tremendously.
Limbaugh is all in for Cruz except that he wants to profit from that part of the audience that is pro Trump. So his opinions are totally convoluted and twisted.
I’ve read it. What’s so impressive about it? A lot of talkie talk and not a lot of walkie walk. He’s a Harvard lawyer who argued cases in the Supreme Court, which is good. Then he was a Bushie (not so good, but not the total end of the world) and then he got elected to the Senate.
He did some grandstanding and for a moment there, it looked like he could put together a coalition of conservatives in the senate, but that didn’t materialize. In fact, absolutely nothing materialized. Then came his vote for the Corker bill which subverted the constitution that he claims to love in order to enable the deal with Iran that he claims to be against. Then came his chicanery with TPP/TPA. Apparently, I can walk into any South Carolina restaurant and find that close to 100% of the people in it are fully aware that Mitch McConnell is a lying snake, but I’ll be damned if Ted Cruz had to find out by trusting him. Aw shucks, eh?
Red flags, but forgivable if he was the only choice. Then, he wasn’t the only choice. Then, he started to show an astounding lack of character in his presidential campaign. He turned those of us who had been for him completely against him with his own actions.

That is of course at odds with other statements he made during the campaign that he never walked back; good as the points listed on the website are, do not preclude the possibility of having mandated health insurance, which is more big government. Unlike Cruz, he doesn’t even assure us that the birth control mandates won’t make their way into the new version of whatever replaces Obamacare.

Cruz’s campaigning for fast tracking Obamatrade is “at odds” with his alleged opposition to it. He knows no fast tracked trade deal has ever been voted down yet insisted on doing just that on Obamatrade.
That one incident is a heck of a lot more indicative of authenticity than the bloviating of candidates. Ted Cruz stood with Barack Obama and Goldman Sachs and against us in the U. S. Senate. And Cruzers have no problem with that. Sad. No Sale. That’s where Ted Cruz lost me for good.

That's a great example of political BS. Senator Cruz obviously knows that repealing Obamacare is a job for the House and the Senate, not the President. Right now there is a Republican majority in the House and the Senate, and yet Senator Cruz and his colleagues haven't done a thing about Obamacare.
Where are the bills to reform it, or end it? Why didn't the House and the Senate refuse to fund the government unless Obamacare was repealed or changed?
What Senator Cruz really means is that he'll keep promising to repeal Obamacare if he is elected President, but he won't actually do a thing about it.

And where exactly has conservatism been force in national politics in the last 30 odd years? I don’t see it. The GOP plantation brand of approved conservatism has got us exactly nowhere.
I think that the reason Trump’s plan doesn’t mention it is that he knows that with price transparency and drug re-importation, the cost of care will drop so much that covering pre-existing conditions will be comparatively negligible no matter where the cost is actually shifted.
It also makes a mandate for any of that much less necessary. However, within the context of the current system, (which is the only reality people can see right now) the pre-existing condition mandate is necessary and popular. It only makes sense to assure people who are scared to lose their coverage that they won’t lose it.
Actually the whole story about people being unable to get insurance because they had a pre-existing condition is mostly untrue, and generated to fool people into supporting government imposed insurance. In reality, essentially every group insurance plan in the country already covered people with pre-existing conditions long before Obamacare. And in some states you could have a "group" or one person.
Since employers want to offer insurance to all of their employees, the health insurance providers have to take new employees who have pre-existing conditions. So the insurance companies have a large pool of people who have a variety of pre-existing conditions, and that is priced into the premiums. What they don't want, is a pool of people who are very sick, and unlikely to even be able to continue paying premiums.
The solution isn't forcing everyone to buy insurance, it is realizing that for some very sick people with chronic illnesses there needs to be a reinsurance pool to share the risk, and that for very poor people their health care costs will have to be paid for by society until they are able to earn enough money to pay for their own health care. And that there are many aspects of the health care system where competition and transparent pricing would save money for everyone.
Leon H Wolf really hates Trump, and he hates Rush for not hating Trump enough. That’s all.
This entire presidential cycle has created dogmatists by the millions driven by ego, top to bottom.
All of them sell their "truth" and their certainty of the future they see more clearly than us mere mortals.
The bottom line is few, if any of them can know everything, but they are willing to have hissy fits imposing their "religion" on everyone else.
It all boils down to individual instinct and gut feeling.
A leap of faith, given the abysmal circumstances.
I know who I'm voting for and why; half truths, omissions, distortions and puerile name calling can't sway me.

Right, but his show has become 3 daily hours of sneering at and about Trump. He’s clearly a Cruz man now, which is better than being the Rubio man he was a couple of months ago—but he’s completely lost it re: Trump.

very long. If you have then you would know that his first,
second, and third priority is to get liberalism defeated.
I think Rush has a Republican preference but he will
be an avid supporter of the GOP general election candidate.
He has ALWAYS been that way so for people to get their
panties in a twist over what he says or doesn’t say about
this or that candidate is just another sign that it is,
indeed, the silly seson.
Rush is below neutral on Trump.
Rush is for whomever the Establishment tells him to be for.
He’s not the only choice but he is the best choice. Neither one of these guys is perfect. However, I do not feel like buying a pig in a poke with Trump. It amazes me that people want to hang Corker on Cruz alone. They all except one voted for it. Perhaps it was naive of him to believe McConnell but I am of the opinion that under a Cruz Presidency McConnell will either shape up or leave. The campaign issues are just jumped up propaganda from Trump people who have been disappointed that Trump didn’t run away with it from the get go and had to find some justification for their disappointments. I don’t understand the TPP thing well enough to comment but there again Cruz didn’t do it alone.
Sadly apparently so.
