If Trump were to create a new party, would you join?
I keep hearing how bad it would be and how it would 'split the vote' and hand the victory to the Democrats.
I disagree, because I think a majority of people would go with Trump.
There is currently about 25% of the country registered as GOP. That's about 80 million people.
If Trump formed a new party I would think nearly everyone who voted for him (over 70 million) would join. Plus some disillusioned Democrats AND some independents.
That would make the new party bigger than the old GOP. Their funding would dry up overnight.
The current GOP is not just office holders- there are huge bureaucracies of party officials. If NY GOP is any example, they seem to think they have permanent sinecures and the party funds are for them to host social gatherings.
I already did, does that count.
Immediately.
And the “Stay the course!” crowd can hide under the porch. They are like wives going back to their abuser husbands. “He won’t beat me bad again. He promised! I’ll force him to change!”
Don’t cosign their mental illness.
Yes! And if all 74 million Trump voters went with him the GOP would be toast.

I am so repulsed by the traitors and backstabbers and liars and moral cowards and Democrats in the Republican Party that I have already changed my party affiliation and will fully support any candidates of any party EXCEPT the two that have been working together for decades to destroy what’s left of our once great country. Spit!
Yes. The GOP craps on us every time. If there’s no othet option, I won’t be voting. Screw them.
Stay in a backstabbing, inept, and corrupt party that actively cooperated with the most corrupt group of people vermin in the multiverse in cheating to elect Slow Joe and the Ho? ...OR... Join a party supporting one of the few presidents that actually honored his promises? Tough choice.
........................................
Nicely done! Thank you!
YES!
Okay, we’ll have both.
Yeppers.
Yes. I’ve already changed my affiliation to Independent. So changing to another would not be hard.
Every year this third party BS starts up. There is no way that would guarantee democratic dominance that for conservatives to desert the GOP for some BS third party.
Yes, I know, all your friends think it is a good idea but it still isn’t.
the name “redskins” is available...
They will come for you anyway, they know who you are! It is time to stand up or bend over!!!
An unequivocal YES
I would, I’m no longer a republican supporter.
Yes
“I’d absolutely join Trump. That said, it’s far better that we keep the Republican Party and the Liz Cheneys of the world can leave.”
I agree, take back the GOP from within then dump the RINOs.
The party needs to get an aggressive chairman and start picking better candidates. Stop nitpicking from within, strike a mission and everyone get onboard...and quickly....its almost over. If the rats are in the street, thats where they need to be trapped. Nice guys don’t win.
And they need to do it in good faith and for the benefit of the American public

I wonder just how many of the movers and shakers in the GOP could be relied upon to do the right thing and fully support citizen Trump and his MAGA agenda. Personally, I wouldn’t trust a single one of them to walk my dog around the block!
if the problematic people cannot be removed from GOP party posts, then yes, let’s confine them to the fate of the Whigs... and start a new party that actually represents Americans and American values. PDJT can start it and then others will have to move it forward.... GOP-E is politically dead meat.
Donald Trump is one man and he’s no spring chicken. We should not be building an entirely new party so that we can advance him as a candidate.
He needs to be a constructive force in fixing the GOP as it stands. The hostile takeover part is over and Trump has won. He owns it. The Liz Cheneys and Mitt Romneys have no power and very little time left. They don’t matter. Forget them! But there are voters who are naturally inclined to Trump’s policy positions and forceful negotiating stance but not his demeanor. Trump needs to win them over.
One way to do that is for all of us to draw finer distinctions rather than lump everyone who ever disagrees with Trump on any position as an anti-Trumper. Mitch McConnell, Bill Barr, Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio immediately come to mind. None of these guys bear any resemblance to Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, or L. Cheney. Fox News talking heads Ingraham, Carlson, Hannity and so forth also fit this category. For goodness sakes, don’t tune Fox out. This sort of thing is suicidal.
Put differently, Trump has too few friends and allies for him or any of us to be turning away people who want to help him.
