I have a cute little calico named Maci. And a big 15-pound tuxedo cat named Betty - short for Betty Crocker - she goes crazy in the kitchen!

We have a male pure bread Great Pyrenees. We named him Cody Jack which fits him perfectly. (He is very large and resembles a young Polar Bear and his name almost sounds like Kodiak.) He is absolutely the most affectionate dog we have ever owned. He loves to give us hugs. Thankfully he is not a licker, being an upstanding member of the slobber club.

We also have a female pure bread Chow-Chow. We named her Lacey Brooke. She loves me more than any dog I have ever owned and vice versa.

OBTW, Our dogs are not pets, they are members of our family. Actually I think they believe they own us!

We had a black cat named Cujo, cat from Hell. He was one weird guy. He used to chew on himself daily, screaming with pain, then attacking himself in the nether regions again. He eventually died.

Now we have Tiger Lily Cat, Big Frank (cat) and a beagle named Rosebud. And they are as "normal" as Cujo wasn't. It's nice for all our pets to get along and not worry about being sliced and diced by the evil black cat...

Well, I have always loved huge dogs, and never really saw the point of having a dog that couldn't tear someone's throat out.

However, Hubby has known a few pugs in his life, and just thinks they are super sweet. And I know my 100 lb Lab would love to have a permanent puppy.

And if you DO get barn cats, you had better take good care of them, or I will hunt you down like a field mouse. Cats are the greatest thing on the planet.

I think the world of you, T, and although I like cats and wouldn't harm them (to a point), dogs are God's greatest animal creation.

We've had two cats in our marriage but its been about 12 years since we had one. My allergies have all but disappeared since then.

I hate to break this to you, but your beagle hates being called Rosebud. She (I hope it's a she) wants a more studly name. Thatcher, for example. Named for England's Iron Lady. Or Joanuvarc. A heroic name. Cleopatra would be a great name for a female cat.

Calling her Cleo for short would be fine.

I have to hand it to you, though. Cujo for a cat's name is awesome.

Actually, the name Rosebud fits her to a T...She is a sweet little girl beagle and was born on the 4th of July. Our son, who was 13 at the time, thought that was the name of a firecracher and he was the one who named her. We found later out the name was from a matchbook, but it was perfect for her and the name stuck. She is the sweetest little dog. She's 11-1/2 years old now and is still our little sweetie (besides being a beagle, which means barking, baying and getting herself sick eating things she's not supposed to.) The name fits her perfectly. We'll miss her dearly when she's gone.

Pugs have a lot of breathing problems - and they snore continually (facial structure bred flat.)

On the other hand, Newfies drool. Gallons and gallons and gallons of drool. My first trainer had a Newfie named Kansas. Adorable girl though as big as a small pony, but if you stood next to her she would fill your shoes with saliva. When my puppy was naughty with the other dogs while boarding, she figured out pretty quick that she could hide under Kansas, be concealed by her belly hair, and Kansas wouldn't let any of the dogs she had been pestering get near her . . .

Well, truth be told I am a kitty person, and could find a negative about any breed. WE have a 3 year old, 100 lb lab now, and she will not calm down until she is arthritic.

I love huge dogs, and many of the giant breeds don't live very long. That's why I like Newfies and St Bernards. They live a pretty long time, as far as the big breeds go. I know they drool, but they are so fricking big it's worth it!

My favorite breed is a Collie, though.

Thank you! He's really a great cat, he has a very outgoing, doglike personality and he's absolutely fearless. He's the Big Boss of the menagerie, too.

She's 42 pounds, will be 5 on March 1.

She isn't a very calm dog either! We got into agility in self defense, to try to burn off some of that energy.

. . . you can see she is a little thing, only 20" at the shoulder, but boy can she hit those weave poles!

Can you believe I have some presa canario breeder websites on my Favorites list just because I enjoy looking at the pictures and keeping up with them. They are such awesome dogs. A person has to really have their act together to live with one of those.
