As the couple watched the game at New Yorks Madison Square Garden arena, the words Melissa, will you be my Blueshirt bride? Love, Nick flashed up.
But the message to Nick was a clear puck off, because an angry-looking Melissa shook her head and stormed out, leaving her distraught lover distinctly red-faced and prompting a chorus of boos from his fellow blue-shirted Rangers fans.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Breaking an engagement hurts much more.

For some reason, I always detested those public marriage proposals. Just strikes me as wrong.
If I did do it, I would make darn certain what the answer was going to be before I asked. In fact I would make certain the girl knew it was going to happen before hand.

Brutal...but it was the best that could have happened to the poor guy since he knows now what a classless hussy he could have ended up with.
To: Red in Blue PA
Well, good for her. If she didn't want to marry the guy, she didn't want to marry the guy. She shouldn't be "shamed" or "embarassed" into marriage.
I think it took a lot of guts to walk out and endure the "boo's", but, it's better than living your life with someone you might regret later...or being rushed into it.
Kudoes to Melissa.

This woman deserves a medal as perhaps her actions will deter loser sports fans from using pro sport facilities to propose marriage to their fat girl friends.
Be a man, take her to Central Park or a nice restaurant and pop the question there so you will not waste other people’s time and embarrass yourself.

He should have known if this was a woman who likes public or private proposals. She obviously was not that big a fan.
He should NOT try and stay friends with her. He should move on.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe he was trying to embarrass her into saying yes?
He should have had some idea of what her response might be!
