This is not a thread for light browsing. This will wear out anyone, links that make me wish I were twenty people at once.
Here are some research aids:

All the following are Free Republic Forum Pages. Most are link lists for referening:

A good analogy to that correction is “Kentucky windage” in shooting. You know your last shot missed a bit to the left, so you adjust your next shot a bit to the right. The issue is that the gap between elections is two years and the gap between comparable elections may be four years, by which time things will have changed.
If Trump were evil, this would be a huge gamble.
First off, he gambles to win the White House.
Secondly, he gambles that somehow he could enrich himself even more while in the White House.
Thirdly, he gambles that his corrupt self-enrichment doesn’t get him impeached/removed.
Fourthly, he gambles that he will be happy even if he weathers a battery of congressional hearings.
Career politicians like the Clintons and Harry Reid are willing to risk everything â their reputations and even jailtime to profiteer off of politics. Political profiteering is a tricky trade that takes incredible legal knowledge and more importantly â a network of cronies to walk you through it.
And ... career politicians can never feel as happy as a self-made businessman who has a sound reputation and can walk the streets without fear and who rarely if ever fears the FBI and congressional oversight.
Trump has sacrificed a lot of personal freedom as well â he will never get to walk the streets the way he used to. He will never ‘blend’ in our society again. That bridge was burned, and I believe it was due to patriotism.
Then look at Hillary at a congressional hearing: ‘My mindâs like a blender. I just canât remember. Like jello.’ â humiliating.

Mark Levin: Trump ‘Really Screwed Up’ On Scalia, Cruz, Ethanol..
Levin said, ‘I am not going to defend reckless comments, where a candidate or candidates defend the poison that is the Republican establishment, especially [Sen.] Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)48% in the United States Senate. I am not going to defend blowing out our federal budget subsidizing agribusiness and leftists with ethanol that screw up your engine and drive up the price of fuel and the price of corn. I am not going to defend an attack led by the media and the left trying to smear Antonin Scalia, who’s been on the Supreme Court for over 30 years, one of a handful of justices who’s trying save this republic because of one election cycle.’Â
” it could flush out almost every illegal immigrant driver in weeks! And the Ruling Class doesnât want such technology to overwhelm their scheme.”
Why we call them The Ruling Class.
Linking to your in-depth quote of Scalia in his alleged ‘racist’ statement:

So to put it simply ...
Affirmative action [and other long-debated issues] is a calcified trench-warfare issue that divides people. Banning muslim immigrants is a unifying exciting issue that leaves other candidates [except perhaps Cruz] flat-footed.
Like Douglas MacArthur said [along with other strategists] -
“Hit’em where they ‘aint’.”

[Trump’s Ground Game in Iowa ... you were referring to Trump, right?]
His campaign uses eventbrite to hand out tickets to his immense rallies. Through it, he automatically gains an electronic mailing list to people who went out of their way to attend his rallies. Imagine not just the value but the sheer volume of this growing list. No other campaign has this, not even the RNC itself.
Then at the rallies themselves, they have further recruitment and gotv efforts, especially in Iowa, where they instruct all that new fresh blood into navigating the caucuses.
No polling outfit seems to know how to measure all these things to gauge Trump’s ground game. But his ground game exists, and it’s growing.

kabar describes our challenge with entrenched bureacracies:
[quote]
I spent 28 years in the State Department. The reality is that the permanent bureaucracy runs the government for the most part with the possible exception of foreign policy. Political appointees can be shaped or thwarted by the bureaucracy.
IMO the bureaucracy has become too big and increasingly politicized. Most of the political contributions go to the Dems, the party of Big Government. This should not come as a surprise since most bureaucrats believe they doing something worthwhile and important. This is dangerous. The scandals and improprieties of IRS, EPA, ATF, etc. may be initiated by political appointees, but the reality is that the career bureaucrats don’t have to be convinced to do it. There is no resistance.
As a result, even if the Reps win the WH and continue control over Congress, the ability to change things will be circumscribed by the bureaucracy, which cannot be changed thanks to the Pendleton Act and government unions.
