Karl Rove: North Carolina and Indiana Are ‘Gone’ for Obama, Wisconsin a ‘Battleground’ State
The Blaze ^ | 5/20/2012 | Madeline Morgenstern

Posted on 05/20/2012 3:07:43 PM PDT by Signalman

Republican strategist Karl Rove said Friday he believes North Carolina and Indiana are “gone” for President Barack Obama in November and that Wisconsin has become a “battleground” state.

“I think North Carolina is gone just like Indiana is gone. Obama has no chance to win them,” Rove told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. “I think Ohio and Florida are leaning today towards Romney. I think places like Iowa and Colorado are in danger of floating into the Republican column. And states like Nevada and Pennsylvania are moving from lean Democrat into toss-up category. And on June 5th, mark my words, we will have more poll data than we got today that is going to show that Wisconsin’s a battleground state.”

Rove might be right...until Romney’s support for gay marriage in Massachusetts comes out. That puts the issue in doubt. In any case, the world would be a better place if Rove would kindly stomp on a land mine.

Barry Goldwater had MORE than 22% of the Republican base behind him, as did Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, George Bush, Bob Dole and John McCain.

They all lost.

I don't think there's ever been a Republican win the Presidency with just 22% of the base behind him at the end of the primary campaigns.

Ronald Reagan had about 80% of the Republican base behind him, but NOT the GOP-e ~ and HE WON! Nixon had fantastic Republican support for his two big wins, as did George Bush when he ran and won (both of them).

You mean that there are folks who hate a bastardized ‘’Christian’’, with a somewhat twisted view of salvation, more than a Marxist, atheist, America hating, Satan fellating POS?
Nawwwww........couldn’t be. That’d downright stupid, shortsighted and juvenile.

You honestly believe he can say that in front of Obama...

Yes I do. I think he can easily say that and I think it's crazy to believe otherwise.

He called the Republican landslide in 2010 before anyone else.

Morris also said that the GOP would take the Senate by a comfortable margin. Sometimes I think Morris makes those predictions not because he believes in them, but because it's what Fox viewers want to hear.

But I will confess to one thing. I usually enjoy listening to what Morris has to say. But I take it with a grain of salt.

The only people who will ever talk about that are a small number of self-conceived "Christians" who hate Mormonism so much that it has them trying to re-elect Obama.

My point is that he will be unable to avoid it and the damage it brings him.

You will do everything you can to create that damage and I will do what I can to stop you.

It is all of those things and worse which is why I'm trying to put the kibosh on it.

Strategy has not been a FReeper strong suite in years. Of course, neither has humility or tactical comprehension of the Marxist’s ‘’long view of history’’.

I agree. The commies wear us down constantly all across society like termites or water, and “conservatives” sit around dreaming of knights on white horses.

Martyrs for a cause.
No army is coming over the hill in the nick of time. No final conflict will unleash the apocalypse and usher in a battle between the Sons of Light and the forces of darkness. There isn.t going to be a Hollyweird melodramatic ending where Mr. Smith really does change the nation and Foggy Bottom. It’s going to be simple mudslogging, day in/day out drudgery, the gray boredom of political governance.

Probably because most freepers are disgusted with the republican party bigwigs who have forced Romney down our throats.

Betrayal after betrayal of the party base by the elite and getting to watch it daily from people like Rove and Morris have left most of us sick to death of the whole mess this year.

If Romney wins it will be without a huge chunk of the disgusted GOP base and because Obama stinks so badly dems will vote republican not because Romney is a good candidate.

The real drama the GOP has not factored in is the real possibility a 3rd party wises up and decides to become a real player and runs on the old Republican conservative platform, makes Romney out to be a dem in his voting and leadership, and puts up a real conservative Republican as their candidate.

The only thing the GOP has going for it at the moment is the total disgust at the other party's candidate and that is a real iffy prospect in the long run. No enthusiasm from your base means less foot soldiers and money and the prospect of them being easily picked off by another party.....THE STUPID PARTY BEING VERY STUPID once again. This was a sure thing coattail year if they had put up a conservative and now they are living off the other guy being more hated....not smart. The whole thing is disgusting to watch.

Sometimes I wonder where people's line in the sand is. With Romney you not only have a cult memeber but a high tax, pro-gov. controlled health care, pro-gay, anti-life, anti-gun, big spender.

YOU HAVE A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT...and you are worried about changing a few Christians minds because you want someone who falsely puts Republican in front of his name in the white house?

Sorry but maybe some people are actually thinking that he will hurt the party more in the long term with him in office.

Like I said earlier....totally disgusted.... for the first time since I could vote 30 years ago I will not be voting for president because the choices are a communist or a democrat cultist. My line in the sand has been crossed...

“If Romney wins two out of Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico, then everything else falls in place for him to win it. If he doesn’t, then the Kenyan gets his second term.”

Of these three states, I think Romney’s only chance will be Nevada, where he will edge out Obama with the help of the “Mormon vote”.

New Mexico is now a “white minority” state and it’s going to be increasingly difficult for Republicans to win there. I don’t believe Romney can pull this one off.

Colorado is rapidly becoming the “California of the Rockies”. Obama’s going to squeak out a victory there.

The important states this time around will be Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and perhaps even little New Hampshire. Romney needs all of them to win.

However, if Scott Walker can “flip” Wisconsin to Romney, it will change things completely. That’s a tough call, but right now Mr. Walker seems to be the toughest man in American politics — it’s within the realm of possibility.

I’ve got news for you: North Carolina and Indiana are the reddest of purple states. In any normal election, they along with Virginia should be in the Republican column.

The real battle grounds lie in the states they always do: Ohio, Florida, Missouri and Pennsylvania. The guy who takes at least three of four of those states wins — as has been the case in every election since 1960.

The more guys like Rove and Dick Morris predict a win for the GOP, the more FReepers seem to dislike them. I don’t get it.

Some FReepers have short memories. Remember this in November 2006?
