Girl scarred by pit bull attack asked to leave restaurant

JACKSON, Miss. —A 3-year-old girl who was attacked by pit bulls in April was asked to leave a Jackson restaurant because her scars scared customers, the girl's grandmother told 16 WAPT News.

"Does this face look scary to you?" accompanied a picture of Victoria Wilcher on the Facebook page Victoria's Victories, which documents the child's recovery from the attack at her grandfather's home in Simpson County. Authorities said one of Donald Mullins' dogs ripped open the back door and jumped on the girl. Two other dogs dragged her into the back yard and began mauling her, investigators said.

"The right side of her face is paralyzed. She's got a lot of surgeries to go through and she won't even look in the mirror anymore," said Victoria's grandmother, Kelly Mullins. "When we go to a store, she doesn't even want to get out (of the car). She's 3 years old and she's embarrassed about what she looks like. She's embarrassed and I hate it because she shouldn't be. It ain't her fault."

“I call baloney on this. Grandmas out to make a buck.........”

People in restaurants can be rude. I’ve read stories where people wanted to be moved so they did not have to sit near a child with Trisomy 21. In fact when told the child was “special” they replied “then let that child go be special some where else”. Lucky in that situation the wait staff stuck up for the child with Trisomy 21.

It’s not emotions overruling those who would exterminate pit bulls. It’s those who claim that such common maimers and killers should somehow be permitted in society.

They’re the ones with the irrational emotions.

“And yesterday at Starbucks there was a guy who’s entire head was tattooed. He scared my grand daughter, heck he scared me. It never occurred to me to ask him to leave.”

You know what though? He could have been a swell guy! Kinda like that Dentyne commercial where the two older women tell the biker dude on the subway that he was sweet breath. “Oh I’ve enjoyed it since 16th street” or something like that.

The pitbull-gun analogy is completely bogus.

You dishonor gun owners and 2nd Amendment advocates by making such a claim.

I had a rescue dog I adopted that was part pit bull. He was fine for about two years and then snapped. First he started to growl when I would reach down to take his food bowl to fill it. Then he turned on my other dog and ripped his leg to bits. Cost me close to a thousand dollars to reconstruct the leg. The pit bull was gone within the week. Only dog I ever put down. Will never have another pit bull ever.

It is very, very unlikely that the restaurant owner knew of or was involved in the alleged poor conduct. When an employee does something like that, the owner ought to have an opportunity to make it right with the customer and retrain, discipline, or fire the employee.

But forking over millions for one employee’s moment of nasty stupidity? I take it you’ve never been an employer rather than an employee.

I'd love to get the full story on this because at first glance, it sounds like one of those stories that will eventually get debunked on Snopes as an urban legend. I can't imagine any restaurant worker telling a grandmother to take her 3-year-old granddaughter out of there because her face was scaring the other customers.

I'm almost certain we are not getting the full story here. More likely, whatever happened is being overly dramatized for purposes of getting the biggest possible settlement and publicity.

Many of our military come home with far worse injuries and scars. Will they be asked to leave the restaurant also?
Shame on them for doing this. They can leave deeper scars on that little girl than she has suffered from the dog.

Every pit bull owner is a murdering thug.

Interesting, the article mentions the dogs in reference to what human animals are doing to the child now, but you only seem to want to talk about the dogs. Does this mean that you condone what the human animals, who are supposed to have actual intelligence, are doing to the child now? Interesting that the first thing coming out of you instead of being compassion for the child is hatred for some dogs, not that the dogs involved don't deserve it but...............

“if people kept control of their animals.” Oh, so true...

In the rural area I live in, just about every “vicious” dog-Bullmastiffs, Rotties, Mastiffs, Pitbull/Staffordshire Terriers, German Shepherds, etc are family pets. They guard livestock and deter intruders so folks don’t have to take out their other defense-guns. One neighbor’s Bullmastiff runs over to lean on me if I’m outside the gate when he is being walked.

The dogs are fenced, leashed when walked, etc. No thinking person lets horses or goats run loose, either, but that makes too much sense for a lot of people to understand, I suppose...

I think this might be a gimme-money story, too-my daughter was in an accident with her aunt as a 10 year old, looked a lot more gruesome than that kid, and no one asked us to remove her from a public place...

Pit bulls are not naturally mean dogs.

Of course! that's why of all the dog breeds pit bulls contribute to 78% of the fatal dog attacks while making up approx 6% of the total us dog population. Everyone knows that pit bulls, crocodiles, lions, and rttlesnakes are just misunderstood.

Pit bulls are not naturally mean dogs. If they are mean it’s because some human made them so. “Pete” from “Our Gang” was a pit bull. They are loving dogs until made to be mean.

Fatty Arbuckle had a very intelligent dog that appeared in his movies that was at least part pit pull. Quite a lot of indiscriminate breeding of those dogs have gone on since then. These dogs are frequently owned by white trash/gang bangers/Illegals/meth heads who are likely as poorly bred as their dogs. Some of these pit bull breeds may even be bred with other bully dog breeds so that they become even more aggressive. These dogs are IMO simply more than most owners can control. Cesar Milan may be able to handle them. Most people do a poor job of handling dogs at all. If they do a poor job with a pit bull, it can be fatal.

Here’s an example of statistics presented as facts-the vicious dog list-not only have I kept a dreaded Chow Chow and two German Shepherds as pets-I have yet another dog from the list as a pet-an evil Siberian Husky...
