I didn’t say it was cruelty. I said it was nerve paralysis and that it wasn’t funny. The cat wasn’t lying there because he didn’t want to go out. He had no control of his body. It is so obvious.

"Nothing funny about it. The cat was paralyzed by the harness, similar to when the mother picks them up by the back of the neck and they hang there lifeless. It’s a nerve/brain thing, not willfullness."

There was a comment to that effect on the Youtube page. If that's so, it's interesting...but still kind of funny to watch, LOL.

Just as an aside, that woman sounds as though she could use some Mucinex.

There's something about the placement of that collar that makes the cat go limp like that.

Take a tie and tie it around the upper chest of your cat and it will likely fall over too........

I think you are correct. I guess some vets do it.

Given that many cats are walked in harnesses, I doubt that Kitty was paralyzed. I think he was just, well, being a cat.

When I was a kid, I tried to put a harness on my cat. He reacted the same as the one in the video.

I gave it up as unnatural...the cat made me see the errors of my ways.

Who would take a cat for a walk?

Californian’s~~~

Saw a woman in Pet Smart trying to get her cat to walk with a harness.
Cat plopped down like the Sphinx and would not move. Dumb woman!

I used to see a gal walking her cat on a leash in a neighboring subdivision. When I first got Squeek, I tried the same thing. After draggin her on her side halfway thru the garage, I figured she wasn’t into outside walks..........LOL!

I learned this when I was about eight years old. Then I discovered when I put a doll dress on my tomcat he would stay in the doll cradle until I tired of playing like he was a baby.

Very likely.

I have trained several cats to walk on a leash in a harness. The trick is to start them young and get a cat harness. They wiggle out of the ones meant for dogs. They wiggle out of the ones meant for cats too just not quite as fast.

Next cat I am thinking of getting a "Kitty Holster". George T. Cat is now starting his 15th year of life and I don't think it would be fair to start trying to change things at this point.

I wish I’d harness-trained mine - my Tomcat would love to meet more people. Ah well, so it goes.

Best of luck to you and George.

Someone who wants to let their kitty go enjoy the outdoors without worrying about losing them to a car or wild animal. Both of my last two cats actually liked going for walks on a harness and *very* long lead - once they understood what the idea was.

It’s not like walking a dog, where you lead and the dog more or less follows. You basically just follow the cat where he wants to go and rein him in if it gets dangerous.

sorry, not my doing.

I'm sorry if this came across as a slam on you, that was not intended at all. I know you are just the messenger.

And while I hate vertical format videos, I did send this to my friends! Thanks for the link.
