this looks like hocum. they only chose two specific emulsifiers which i don’t see in any of the stuff that i buy. At first i thot they were going after lecithin which is made from eggs now that they say they are good for us.

They are now testing other emulsifiers. It would probably be a bit chaotic to conduct a study so wide ranging if all were tested at once. The most common source of lecithin in processed foods is soy, not eggs. Soy is not that good for us.

Because something is not in things that you buy that makes it hocum?

But don’t worry. Eating Polysorbate 80 might destroy your immune system and ruin your gut, but if you INJECT IT (as in vaccines) it’s perfectly harmless and if you refuse to, your kids should not go to schools.

“Research” has told me over a handful of decades that coffee was bad for me, then good, then bad, then kinda good again? Wine was good, then bad, then...BEER, beer was terrible then good; at certain times and only one, okay two, but only on a weekday ending in Y. And Eggs, whoa, they have been all over the place. Salt, cooking oil; now, some evil marijauna and damn if I’m not a sinner for liking milk but those cows are methane machines and I can’t get whole milk...no sir....

These studies are crap. Bacon will be good for us again; right after it is done being bad in the press, again.

When you pointed out the correct spelling, you made me spew my soda on my keyboard. . . because I took another closer look at the misspelling, which I had just read right over without noticing before, and suddenly it took on another completely terrible, horrid meaning. . . especially if you split it after the "ho". Shame on my strange mind.

Now I will never be able to look at or use the perfectly good word "hokum" without seeing the misspelling again! My mind is (usually) NEVER that far down in the gutter. . . arrrggggghhhh!

Rejoice! Just this week they decided that not only is coffee good for you, but you NEED to drink a minimum of FIVE CUPS of coffee a day to avoid heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, peripheral artery disease, and cancer! Of course you will be wired and jittery . . . but healthy!

Not me. I just don't get the whole caffeine-wired thing. Guess I'm immune.

I think “hokum,” like “hocus pocus,” is actually a parody of the words of consecration in the Mass: “Hoc est enim corpus meum.” I think.
