Particle jets reveal the secrets of the most exotic state of matter

Shortly following the Big Bang, the Universe was filled with a chaotic primordial soup of quarks and gluons, particles which are now trapped inside of protons and neutrons. Study of this quark-gluon plasma requires the use of the most advanced theoretical and experimental tools. Physicists have taken one crucial step towards a better understanding of the plasma and its properties.

When the LHC accelerator at the world's largest laboratory in CERN, Geneva, collided two lead ions travelling at nearly the speed of light, for a fraction of a second ordinary matter was transformed into the most exotic state of matter known to physics: quark-gluon plasma.

Colliding lead ions at the speed of light. Talk about the ultimate toy. The ultimate skipping of stones!

I thought scientists concluded that The Big Bang never happened.

I thought scientists concluded that The Big Bang never happened.

That line gets repeated a lot on the internet but as far as I know the Big Bang Theory (the theory itself, not the TV show) is as solid in astronomy as the standard model is in particle physics.

I've said it often: one of the great tragedies of the Gobal Warming Hoax is that it tends to make all science seem like a hoax. It is a great tragedy.

Global Warming is a hoax.

The Big Bang Theory (the theory itself, not the TV show) is not a hoax and currently explains more about astronomy than any light-years-distant second contender.

So, nothing exploded and created everything.

In post #2 you claim scientists have abandoned the Big Bang Theory (the theory itself, not the TV show).

In post #5 you skip to a critique of your understanding of the theory itself.

Post #5 demonstrates a desire to fly high in the stratosphere of sophistry. I have no desire to follow you there. Maybe others will enjoy playing that game.

I posted this thread because the thought of the LHC as a huge toy kind of intrigued me. I have absolutely no interest in debating your conception of the Big Bang Theory (the theory itself, not the TV show, though I would be interested in your take on the TV show).

>Global Warming is a hoax.<

.
Too much money and political power is attached to that theory to ever disappear.

From regular boring LEAD to... quark-gluon plasma...
and then the next step...
from quark-gluon plasma to GOLD!

Merlin lives! (all he needs to do is miniaturize CERN to install it into his magic wand...)

(if the FedReserve learns how to ‘print’ GOLD, it may be time to quickly sell our hoardes of the stuff?)

The “big bang” is not an adequate explanation for the origin of the universe.

So why is everything flying apart, red shift?
