Question: A friend of mine has been reading the Left Behind books that have all of this stuff about the Rapture in them. Is there really going to be a Rapture like these books talk about?
Answer: No.The Rapture refers to a passage in First Thessalonians 4, where Christians are caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Many Christians believe, and the Left Behind books promote, that this being caught up to meet the Lord will occur before the Great Tribulation sometime in the near future. Christians will simply vanish, meet Jesus somewhere in the air, and then return with Him to Heaven to await the end of time.

Oh stop it, read what God wrote not all this other stuff being taught false teaching.
You are a piece of work.
Give the sequence of events via direct scripture for your pre-trib teaching, trumpet, Lord appearing, new resurrected bodies, wedding feast, great tribulation, second return, second new resurrected bodies, second wedding feast, Satan and demons bound in chains 1000 years, Jesus 1000 year kingdom before judgement, third time new resurrected bodies, third wedding feast.
Many are unprepared for great tribulation and will become offended with God, their love will grow cold, they will turn to lawlessness, and they will even betray the brethren because those who endure till the end are prepared Matt 24. Pre-trib false teaching is dangerous, Satan’s fingerprints all over it.
Only Rev 21:2 and 21:9-10 directly refer to the New (or Heavenly) Jerusalem as the bride of Christ. No scriptures make a specific connection of the church as the bride of Christ. You are assuming that other references to a bride must necessarily refer to the church. Context is everything. As Freud was reputed to have once said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. If the Heavenly Jerusalem is the bride of Christ and the church is also the bride of Christ, that would make Christ a bigamist. I don’t think so.
I’m sorry, brother, you don’t. Give me one specific scripture that asserts that the church is the bride of Christ, some form of “and the church is the bride of Christ.” You can infer such a conclusion from some other uses of “bride,” but inference is not evidence. Not one passage directly equates the church as bride of Christ.
Here’s what I’ll give you, it’s up to you to decide for yourself. I believe the Church is Christ’s Bride.
Ephesians 5:24-27
2 Corinthians 11:2
Revelation 19:7-9
You don’t suppose that maybe God would shorten those days to save those He intends to survive the Trib?
By shortening, I mean, cut the daylight hours in half or causing a polar shift to do the same result?
Luke 17:26-30 suggests business as usual until a violent entry by Christ to stir up destruction. The Tribulation, all of it, will be anything but business as usual.
Futhermore, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4 suggests a time of normal “peace” followed by a sudden destruction again (this same destruction and event has to be the Rapture).
Imagine all of a sudden 100 million people worldwide vanishing in the blink of an eye without a trace? What would that do to the economy? Travel? Governments? Military?
Some are of the opinion that before that must happen though, a few wars must be played out. Specifically, Psalm 83, in which a coalition of Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and Palestinians are totally demolished in a nuclear war with Israel resulting in Isaiah 17.
This war must precede the Ezekiel 38 War. A sneak attack by Russia, Iran (what’s left of it following Psalm 83), Libya, Sudan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan possibly. God literally destroys this invading force before they can even lay a finger on Israel. Russia is obliterated by nukes following this war.
I’m of the opinion the Rapture happens pre Ezekiel 38, others believe it’s post Ezekiel 38. Either way, we’re living in these end times right now!
Of course, if you're a Moslem you could beat a girl into submitting to be your wife, but that is not the way Jesus formulates His bride.
Sorry, the Rapture snatches the Bride out of the world BEFORE the Wrath of the Day of the Lord, and it will be hell on earth leading up to that terrible day to come at the end of the Tribulation.
For centuries Jewish Rabbis have debated if there are two Messiahs. Why do you suppose they debate that issue, since they know the OT better than you or I ever will?
The resurrection at the end of the Tribulation will be the first resurrection OF JEWS. During the Church Age Jews getting saved are no longer Jews but part of the Bride. During the Tribulation, after God removes His Holy Spirit working in believers, it is the Jews who will know when exactly The Messiah is to set foot on Earth, for the blinders will be lifted and 144,000 Jews will be doing what commissioned them to do in Abraham and they failed miserably to accomplish.
The Church and Israel have different destinies and Jewish believers in Christ Pre-Rapture are part of His Bride.
Christ is both Messiahs that Jews are debating IMO (I could be wrong though).
Messiah Ben Joseph, was what He accomplished 2,000 years ago by suffering, living, and dying for His People.
Messiah Ben David is the role He will play during the 1,000 year reign as He rules the World with an Iron Fist.
Like Noah, and Lot—God saved them BEFORE WRATH. Why would He treat His Bride (The Church) any differently?
Got me??? I have yet to comprehend why these people want the Church to go through the trib?
Yep!
I guess they seem to think that self-flagellation and suffering in light of what they’ve done in their lives might help them in their position with God when all is said and done?
We’ll be gone soon....IMHO very soon! Some here may protest because of doctrinal disagreements or because they actually love their lives more here in this fallen world than actually being physically with the Risen, Holy Lord. Only they can say.
In light of what’s been discussed here and what God has accomplished in the past, it’s quite obvious that He would never allow His own people to suffer His wrath.
Just between you and me, I think the Psalm 83 war is at the door. I also believe that Israel will use nukes in a limited way, soon. The contract Israel signs with the ‘Paece bringer’ that opens the tribulation will possibly be instigated by the mass chaos in some parts of the world, like the US, the UK, and Canada, when millions and millions of the people who keep the infrsastructure going are suddenly gone, Raptured out of this mess. The chaos factor one minute after the Rapture will be horrific in some part5s of the world, but it will effect all nations to one degree or another. With America no longer able to projexct super power, and murder inc running the cities here, guess what will happen in those nations where the Islamics have been growing as a disease within. yeah, it will be horrific, and it will probably encourage the haters of Israel to finally try and erase them from the earth and get nuked trying it. Then the ‘Peace bringer’ will calm things down a bit and get things set up to declare himself god, in the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem.
Have you read the article yet?
The "rapture" theory contradicts scripture. Therefore, by your reckoning, the Bible is wrong.
It’s always interesting to meet someone who believes they know more than Paul the Apostle.
yes, and the writer posted more than one strawman and I believe he is very mistaken in his ‘interpretation’ of the passages and jumbling passages together that refer to different peoples. One blatant example is his referring to ‘those who are left’, of whom Paul referred to as those who had not yet died gathered together with them who ‘slept’. This twisting of the meaning in scripture was no doubt done to support the other more insidious twist of who is left and who is taken regarding the days of Noah and the days of Lot. If this guy is any example of what you Cathalaholics regard as mother church interpreting scriptures for you, then you are in need of reading the Bible for yourself, and listening very carefully to what Jesus said as written down by those inspired by The Holy Spirit to write.
I think so too, this year or next it’s coming (Psalm 83).
It’ll be the worst time to live ever in the history of history.
>> “By shortening, I mean, cut the daylight hours in half or causing a polar shift to do the same result? <<
Nope!
He told us how he would shorten them; why shouldn’t we just believe what he said?
.
Too bad you don’t have a Bible!
It must be hell to be that far in the dark.
The GWT “resurrection” is unto judgement, not life.
All who will be resurrected to life will be resurrected at the Last Trump, to participate in the wedding feast.
There’ll be no “also-rans” in the new Jerusalem.
It does you no harm to believe so, friend. As in so many other instances, people read and interpret scripture differently, otherwise we wouldn’t have 30,000 Christian sects in the world. I was not (and I hope you didn’t take it so) saying that you were wrong, only that we view it differently, just as Christians might disagree on baptism, the Lord’s prayer, and many other interpretations.
