Mega wow. So, assuming each one of those stars is capable of having a solar system like ours, do you think there might be more intelligent life out there? I’m thinking yes. What does is all mean? I wish I knew. I only hope that all the knowledge I’ve gathered here in this lifetime will not be wasted/deleted with my passing. Thank you for your posts throughout the years and take care my FRiend.
How unreasonable it would be to suppose that, besides the heaven and earth which we can see, there are no other heavens and no other earths. -- Teng Mu, 13th c AD
Initial premise is flawed.
Initial comment may be true but is purposeless.
There is no purpose greater than fantasy.
Planets can and do form in star clusters but the more densely packed the clusters are the harder it becomes.
To paraphrase, "A billion years here and a billion years there and pretty soon you're talking about some real time..."
How did they get there in the first place? [friendly /s]
5 And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
6 Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
From Earth, about 6,000 stars are visible to the naked eye.
That seems self-refuting. If true, wouldn't it entail purpose itself having no objective reality?
Cordially,
You are assuming fantasy is not a function of objective reality. It is the foundation of reality without which no intelligence is operative.
All intelligence is based on fantasy. Call it imaginative thought, creativity, leap of faith, whatever you will. One does not look at the stars without engaging in flights of fancy.
The false argument that because there are lots and lots of stars there must be lots and lots of planets like earth which are capable of sustaining life has led to nonsense science like AGW.
There is NO evidence out there that life exists except here on earth. You can keep looking all you want. I don’t have a problem with that but let us not be so silly as to make a dumb argument. Sagan was an atheist and a drug user. He was not really a great scientist he was popular.
In the beginning.....
Globular clusters churn out massive amounts of cosmic rays. No life would be possible within them.
+1 to your post about life in GCs. Very unlikely.
Another favorite object. Nice guide stars and plenty of detail to study.
Worth taking a look at even from in the city.

Just the stuff about the Kardashians and "Caitlyn" Jenner.
