Fox News Sunday tried to ask Ben Carson some policy questions about the terrorist attack in Paris, and the result was a dose of insanity that include a lectured on brain sizes, and Carson's support for a shooting war with Russia.
Carson was asked four times by host Chris Wallace what his response to the Paris attacks would be if he were president, and he couldn't answer, but the real crazy was yet to come.
In response to the question about whether the US should accept refugees from Syria, Carson went on a rant about the human brain:
WALLACE: The Obama administration has said before that it would accept up to 10,000 Syrian refugees as part of the humanitarian crisis. We now learn that one of these attackers had a Syrian passport that indicated he had been part of the refugee flood into Europe in October. Would you continue that policy?
CARSON: Well, you know, as I've said all along, you know, bringing people into this country from that area of the world I think is a huge mistake. Because why wouldn't they infiltrate them with people who are ideologically opposed to us? It would be foolish for them not to do that. So, we need to be very compassionate to understand that these people have been displaced and we should use our expertise and resources to help get them resettle over there, and to support them over there, but to bring them here under these circumstances is a suspension of intellect.
You know, the reason that the human brain has these big frontal lobes as opposed to other animals, because we can engage in rational thought processing, we can, you know, extract information from the past, the present, process it and project it into a plan. Animals, on the other hand, have big brain stems and rudimentary things, because they react. We don't have to just react, we can think.
Carson took crazy to another level when he suggested getting into a shooting war with Russia in Syria:
WALLACE: Dr. Carson what happens if the Russians respond to that by shooting down one of our planes?
CARSON: I would do that in conjunction with the Turkish forces along the Syrian/Turkish border where a huge number of those refugees located. It's a humanitarian thing to try to provide them a safe haven for now.
WALLACE: But sir, if I may press my-
CARSON: And I would make sure that the Russians understood that we are going to do that.
WALLACE: If I may press my point, what do you do if â after we shoot down a Russian plane, they shoot down one of ours?
CARSON: If they violate it, we will, in fact, enforce it. And, you know, we'll see what happened. You know, too, for us to always be backing down because we are afraid of a conflict, that's not how we became a great nation, Chris.
WALLACE: But you're talking about getting potentially into a shooting war with Russia over Syria?
CARSON: Well, if we established a no fly zone and we make clear the rules, if they violate it, that's why you have a no-fly zone. That's the very definition of a no fly zone. You can't fly there.
Ben Carson was asked policy question about the kind of unexpected crisis that all presidents must deal with, and he showed that he is completely unfit for office.
Rambling about the size of the human brain is not answer to a question about continuing the policy of accepting Syrian refugees. The idea that the United States could get into a shooting war with Russia to protect a no fly zone in Syria was flat out insane.
Over the weekend, top Republicans privately admitted that they viewed both Carson and Trump as unfit to be Commander In Chief. Republicans are terrified that Trump or Carson will win their party's nomination and lead the party to a crushing defeat. After Carson's appearance on Fox News, he appears to be even less sane than Trump.
Ben Carson's success as a presidential candidate demonstrates just how crazy Republican voters have become.
It’s a “wordy” answer, I’ll give you that.
I don’t agree with the statement, at least as it refers to Trump, but I have read that from two other sources.
Some read the headline and react. Others read the article considering Dr. Carson’s neurology expertise. The human brain is designed to think; the animal’s is to react. His statement was in context with the question asked.
The KGB was the secret police and Pravda was the newspaper.
You gain your political insight from a leftist website?
âA no-fly zone would accomplish what, exactly?â
Depends on what kind of flies?
It exposes how out-of-touch the establishment elite are.
“The KGB was the secret police and Pravda was the newspaper.”
YES, Yes, Yes - Different arms of the same devil. But there a many who simply do not remember. Worse are still there are many enthralled with Communist/SS disinformation and how well it works on the 80%
A shooting war with Russia over Suria?
I’ve done my Middle East time popping them for neocons once already, and my brother was blown up by an IED.
Next time, glass them over.
Supporting Carson is beyond naive.
I understood what he said, but why would we want to shoot down Russian planes over Syria, when Syria has given them permission to fly there? Currently Russia is doing the job against ISIS that Obama won’t do.
“But his answers were reasonable to someone who has the intellect to understand them. I can understand. The reporter is too stupid to get it.
On what planet is sparking WWIII by provoking a shooting war with Russia a good idea?!
Carley says that she’ll do the same thing! Jeb backed her with that during the debate.
Do these people think that this is what the American people want to hear or are they actually insane enough to do this?!
NO SHOOTING AT RUSSIA UNLESS THEY SHOOT AT US FIRST. Got it?
Sheesh!
My political insight comes from Carson’s own words. I don’t care about the authors comments. The article was almost all transcript of the interview.
At least Carson and Hillary are on the same page.
Carson’s words are what I call into question. The article was almost entirely transcript of his interview. The fact that he agrees with Hillary is crazy enough.
O-o
He’s nutz.
Well...You have to take that into the proper context where a no-fly zone is the topic.
Initially the Russians told the US and allies to get out or risk being shot down...They replied in kind, by issuing orders to pilots that their guns were free in case of a danger caused by Russian aircraft.
After that the Russians complained and they made some sort of a deal.
I think Carson was saying that the US should man-up, impose a restricted airspace corridor for these refugees in Syria, rather than have them running all over the damn place. If this were done without Russian agreement, the only possible choice would be the weapons free option for any incursion into the corridor.
This sort of zone has been proposed many times, and I only saw one no fly zone that was implemented in the last 20-30 years and that was in Iraq against Hussein..
These thing generally cause more problems then they are worth, but if one were to create a protected area for the refugees, the Russians would have to agree with it, or you might as well declare war on them, which frankly I would not object to.
You're a disgrace.
Politics USA sounds like Salon or Huffington Post.
Amazed that anyone here gives this any credence.
Not a fan either (Go Cruz!) but (in transcript form, anyway) his answers were pretty rational, although rambling.
If a person couldn’t follow his reasoning, that says something about them indeed.
