ou may not have noticed but our sun has gone as blank as a cue ball. As in, it’s lost its spots.

According to scientists, this unsettling phenomenon is a sign we are heading for a mini ice age.

Meteorologist and renowned sun-watcher Paul Dorian raised the alarm in his latest report, which has sparked a mild panic about an impending “Game of Thrones”-style winter not seen since the 17th century.

This is stupid. The sun went blank a few years ago as well.

“raised the alarm”

And just what are we supposed to do about it? This is a natural phenomenon beyond our control.

Good time to finish cloning those mammoths...we can live without swimming pools, but not without barbecue.

In all fairness, the Sun had extended periods of no spots not that long ago. However, that was in spotless days that were a fraction of a year.

The Maunder Minimum (1645–1715) lasted 70 years.

The Maunder Minimum roughly coincided with the *middle part* of the Little Ice Age. The current best hypothesis for the cause of the Little Ice Age is that it was the result of volcanic action. Mount Rinjani in Indonesia on the island of Lombok in particular, in 1257.

The Little Ice Age is thought to have started from 1300-1500 AD, and ended around 1850.

However, this is puzzling, as two of the largest eruptions in human history also happened in Indonesia, Mount Tambora in 1815 and Kraktatoa in 1883. That is, one 35 years *before the end* of the Little Ice Age, and one 33 years after the end of the LIA.

So, the bottom line is, like with MMGW, they are just guessing.

What will the UN and their greenies do without the global warming shake down. Someone should tell the Pope that the sun runs the climate and not people and cow farts.

My gosh man.... I can’t believe how much hype this is generating. In 2009 the sun was blank for 260 days of the year. In 2010 there were 50 days without spots.

2008 set the second record low, 266 days vs. 1913’s 311 days.

What the sun’s output actually affects earth’s climate? The holy dogma of St. Algore says only molecular level increases in CO2 from evil humans is the only cause of climate change. This is heresy. Send in the Climate Change Inquisition.

La Nina is when the deep oceans warm. The intensity of the La Nina tells you how cold the deep oceans have become. El Nino is when the deep oceans cool. The intensity of the El Nino tells you how much cooling is occurring. Visible solar energy entering the Oceans only varies slightly. Almost insignificantly. The long term warming and cooling trends are determined by how much visible solar energy is absorbed by the oceans (La Nina), verses being blown off into space (El Nino). Actually a simple energy flow process when you understand it. But simple is a relative term and apes eating bananas in trees tend to be egocentric.
