As Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, and the NFL engage in an ugly internal fight over the future leadership of the NFL, TV partners at CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC are staring at their own internal conflicts — namely a substantial decline in NFL ratings that is on pace to cost the four networks up to $500 million in lost revenue.

Already several hundred million in lost revenue has been booked in 2017 and it has the league’s top executives and television partners scrambling to figure out what went wrong. How did a league that was setting ratings records in 2015 suddenly see its audience fall by nearly 20% just two years later.

The NFL powers that be don’t want the player protests to be the reason for the ratings decline, so damnit, it’s not the reason.

$500 million is enough money that these networks would surely consider filing lawsuits to break their contracts with the NFL.

Well, GEE WHIZ, I don't know. Whatever could have started in 2016 that could lead to such a precipitous drop?

I am just as clueless as they are. I cannot imagine why so many former fans are acting offended, loudly screaming about something or another and always the same something, and turning off NFL games. What could possibly have gone wrong? My only idea is that since Colin (2-14 loser) K. is now unemployed and has lots of time on his hands, the next time he is on his knees, he could pray for divine inspiration. It seems that only God could know what is causing this perplexing downturn.

Hey, NFL. I would GLADLY watch a team of scabs being paid $250K per year, who to a man, stand for the National Anthem, than watch these overpaid whiners because they have a little more talent.

Give me the guy/team with a little less talent that's playing his/their guts out because he's so grateful for the opportunity to be there.

I heard Papa Johns walked back its criticism of the NFL.

Sorry to hear that. I was a customer once. Once.

FUNFL...can’t wait when you’ve got the networks selling Super “Bowel” commercials for a dollar a minute.

Well, THEY won’t be buying any Da Vinci paintings soon!

Think of all the poor folks in the world who could have been helped with that 500 million lost! ;-D

CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC

All #NeverTrump fake news outlets. People think President Trump uses Twitter to shoot his mouth off randomly, but his tweets on this were laser guided to damage only his opponents. His tweets probably cost them 200 million of that 500 million, and no conservatives were injured during the production of those tweets.

Thats lost tv revenue only. Empty seats are anither matter. So is fan paraphernalia. You can double the 500 million with everything included. Imagine the 2018 season, with tv networks discussing lesser contracts in the future.

$500 mil? You could recover a good chunk of that by taking it out of the salary Roger is asking for.
