Having no inside information, the trend appears that conservative networks are under assault. Now is a good time to have a plan B.

This is an alert to Ham operators, shortwave and low-power FM broadcasts. Frequency and contact info needs to be made available where possible. If you have a web site and/or podcast, please make your ip address available in case of domain blockage.

Any sensitive and/or peronal isnfo you wish to keep should be copied to local hardware. (get a min 2TB drive to backup everything).

This is not a drill or 'the sky is falling'. Do not panic. But Comm nets may drop at any moment.

Yes, It's time people. Doesn't matter if you were in Washington or now. 11 days to go, and they are scared of something.

Lol.. I’ve been a techie since around 1980 (well, started computing in 1980)..

I still wouldn’t be able to directly help on anything to do with Apple though (although I did begin to learn programming on an Apple II).

The key thing is that he taught you HOW to search for your questions/issues. The word(ing) in the searches can make the biggest differences :^)

Yes telegraph, any of the lesser known chat apps that do not require phone number for registration.

If you have a PC then programs like MIRC are chat servers, if things go south look for FReeper hints as chatroom titles.

The Baofengs, as I understand, are easy to mod out to reach frequencies at longer distances and put out more power.

Then again, I’m just going by what I’ve read because I’m just learning HAM now. I was getting ready to test before COVID hit and now our local club isn’t really meeting, so now I need to start studying again. I lost way too much information.

I'll add a little more to this.

It's a great idea to put any data you have that's important to you on a USB stick (maybe two just to play it safe). That way if you must depart quickly you can have those already in a bugout bag.

Also, in a jam you can add lines to your local 'hosts' file to override DNS and assign Internet names to IP addresses. That way you can just use Notepad, etc to copy/paste certain lines into your hosts file.

For example, this will map freerepublic.com and www.freerepublic.com (and a couple of others) locally:
