Australian-born media mogul Rupert Murdoch (Council on Foreign Relations), whose international holdings include the supposedly conservative FOX News channel, "has been secretly building a stable of wholly-owned pornographic channels for his [British] Sky subsidiary," reported Rupert Steiner of London's The Business on February 12. "The Business has learned that Sky now owns and operates its own pornographic channels -- the 18+ Movies section -- after years of hosting third-party content only."
Previously, under British licensing rules, Rupert's Sky network was required to provide porn content produced by other networks. Having learned of porn's profit potential, however, Murdoch is developing his own original smut content, as well as "entering into partnerships with companies that broadcast pornographic television channels on Sky, such as Sport XXX Babes, XXX Housewives, and Playboy. Sky has agreed [to] retail distribution agreements with these companies. With Playboy, for instance, Sky now not only hosts the channel but sells its service, and collects and shares in the revenues from Playboy customers."
"For years the Murdoch press has labelled rival newspaper baron Richard Desmond a pornographer in articles charting his business which has included pornographic magazines and TV channels," relates Steiner. "Desmond, who owns the Daily Express and OK magazine, will view Murdoch's expansion in this field as hypocrisy." American conservatives who have viewed Murdoch as an ally interjecting a conservative voice into the "mainstream media" should take an even dimmer view of these developments.

Rupert Murdoch is not a conservative, nor are his media holdings (at least those I am familiar with) "conservative" in any sense of the word. Fox News may seem conservative in comparison to the major networks, but that's only in a relative sense. And the NY Post is a big-government rag whose advertisements (particularly in the sports section) look like they belong in Hustler magazine.
Speaking of it, I know hotels make a lot of their money through porn. Something they will not admit to. Even the family friendly ones.
Every day a larger proportion of commercials aired on my G rated satellite channels during prime time are unfit for child consumption. Soft porn seems to be spreading like wildfire.
Murdoch has never been a white knight in shining armor. He's just not a dedicated, 24-7 leftist like most of the rest of them.
Porn is left wing. Tobacco is right wing. Notice if it is right wing the left wing taxes the hell out of it. I no fan of porn, but I wish the idiot politicians would tax porn like they tax alcohol and tobacco.
I realize that Corporate America has its own flaws, but if a newspaper gets a call from IBM, Colgate-Palmolive or the Ford Motor Co. expressing concern about X-rated ads that appear next to theirs, you can be damn sure that the newspaper will take those corporate giants over a local strip club any day of the week.

Also, James Dobson had a hotel chain CEO on his show that took all porn out of their hotels.

How are you going to tax it? Most porn is now produced by overseas companies through the Internet. The brick-and-mortar porn businesses in the San Fernando Valley are a dying breed.
I believe you can ask the hotel to disable such channels when you check in. It's a good idea, if you're going to be leaving young people in their rooms while you do something else.
They'll just set a flag on the room, and the channels won't be available.

I am sure you can disable porn channels in your hotel room. You can't just access it without paying first. It is like Pay-Per-View, you have to pay to access see them. It is great especially if you have kids around.

Actually, most of the porn channels in hotel rooms have previews. Those are accessible by anyone with the remote, and without paying. It's a good idea to ask the desk to shut off all access to adult channels when you check in. They can, and will, do that for you.
The previews are pretty lurid...not what you want your kid viewing while you're out of the room.
My mom cut off Newsday and took the Post for years. She liked the op-ed pages, but in the past year or so they got too raunchy for her. It's really, really bad now.
She dropped the NY post this year and bought a computer. I put FR on as her start page. :)

The porn in hotels is so profitable for the providers, they pay for the TV's in new hotels to induce the hotel owners to carry their channels. Plus, the hotels get a percentage of the take from the channels.

Yes, when someone claims porn is conservative it is one of the most blatant examples of how the meaning of words has become inverted in this day and age, to serve the interests of Satan. We were warned. And many buy into it.

I would worry more about imparting that "godless" part on them, just in case you are wrong. That influence on the kids from sex would be less trouble than eternal damnation in hell. Well, here's the deal. The atheist I know don't care what other people believe, nor do they try to dissuade anyone. My parents are both atheists, yet they sent all of their children, including myself, to Sunday School at the Presbyterian church near our home. Every Sunday.
I asked them about that recently. They're 81 years old now, and are atheists (and Republicans). My mom said that they though it was important for us, as children, to be thoroughly exposed to the dominant religion of this country. She said that we'd make up our own minds when we were old enough to think about it.
She was right. I'm the only atheist among their children. I attended church until I was about 20...every Sunday, and sang in the choir, played piano and did other music at the church.
As a middle-schooler, I got a really nice award for having memorized the the first four chapters of the New Testament.
In fact, I was admitted to Wheaton College, with a strong chance of going into the ministry. But, I decided to become an Electronics Engineer, so I went to another school.
After a couple of more years, I stopped being able to believe in supernatural entities. That doesn't mean that I lack moral values, though. I have the same ones you do, I'm betting.
