More Fred Thompson Principles
IMAO ^ | October 02, 2007

Fred Thompson has a list of some of his principles at his blog, the Fred File. It's not a complete list, though, and here are some more principles exclusive to IMAO:

The Environment. For too long, we have yielded to the forces of natures. Instead, the nature should bend to our will. We must tame it like a beast as use it as yet another tool to destroy our enemies. If nature will not yield to us, then it must be destroyed starting with the sun. Space Exploration. We lay claim to all the universe. We must continue to explore space to see if any life forms are occupying our property and punish them.

Border Security. America deserves a giant wall on both borders made from human bones.

Military Technology. We need weapons that launch fireballs at our enemies. Enemies of America deserve to be hit with fireballs.

Foreign Countries. Foreign countries are an affront to our sovereignty. Their mere existence suggests that someone would prefer to live somewhere else than the U.S. For this blasphemy, we must destroy all foreign countries and punish those who support them.

Education. Children are stupid. Someone needs to do something about that or I will destroy them.

Terrorism. We must make our enemies know that Allah is not nearly powerful enough to protect them from our wrath.

Speech: Regulate unless it obstructs your campaign

Marriage: Ignore reality about how future generations are made and just let the states go insane, then pretend you are doing something by altering the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution.

Blind power grabbers

You want to change the Constitution to enforce your moral standards (which, incidentally, I agree with) on the entire country, and you have the nerve to insinuate that I'm a "blind power grabber" because I prefer to deal with reining in the judicial branch instead?

Conservatism: Talk like a conservative Republican, but campaign for socialist turncoats against more conservative Republicans and hope that nobody notices. (What the heck is he talking about?)

1856 - The new Republican party selected for its national platform a call to abolish the “Twin Relics of Barbarism, Slavery and Polygamy.”

I want to change the Constitution to put in black and white a forgotten principle: That we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. That Creator who gave us rights also designed us as male and female...and when a man and a woman are joined together as one they are able to reproduce children so humanity can continue on into the future. Family is already defined by our Creator in the same way rights are endowed by our Creator. To leave states free to deny the truth about marriage and family is the same as allowing states to redefine all other self-evident truths.

If you want to define that as forcing morality then what's the difference if you force it by the local government? Your argument that it is force is an argument against any traditional marriage laws.

Our nation went through this marriage crises before back in the 1800's and the issue was polygamy. The solution required the involvement of the federal government then, and it will require the same thing now. If you do what Fred wants to do and write the "right" to ignore self-evident truths about marriage and family as given to us by our Creator, then there is no way to deny them FEDERAL recognition and benefits. When a heterosexual couple marries, they are recognized as married by the federal government. You can't say it isn't a federal issue when right at the top of your federal tax return you are asked for a filing status of married or single.

Our nation went through this marriage crises before back in the 1800's and the issue was polygamy.

And what amendment to the Constitution abolished polygamy?

This is how the polygamy issue was handled

Specifically, not with a Constitutional Amendment.

You didn't read my link, did you?

Oh, and please acknowledge that Fred is proposing an Amendment.

Yes I did. And you still refuse to admit the obvious -- the issue was handled with the need for an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Oh, and please acknowledge that Fred is proposing an Amendment.

Thompson's proposed Amendment, the details of which are still unspecific, would be focused at limiting judicial power, not codifying definitions of social structure.

Brave talk from a Mittwit.

Anti-Terrorism: Provide paid advice to lawyers trying to get Muslim terrorists off on charges of bombing an airplane and killing its passengers.

Washington: Pretend to be a Washington outsider despite a career of using your insider connections to lobby and provide clients access to lawmakers.

The issue was handled without an amendment, though they did consider one. I never claimed that had to have an amendment. I said the issue was handled by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. That you cannot deny. So it was very much considered a federal issue.
