Charlie Gibson: 'It's Important to Expose' Sarah Palin
publiusforum.com ^ | 10/06/08 | Warner Todd Huston

So, instead of merely reporting the news, now reporters are the news? Apparently Charlie Gibson thinks he is, anyway. He gave an interview to the Toledo Blade on October 5 as if his opinions of the race for the White House are somehow more important than the news of the candidates. You remember the candidates, don't you Chuck? You know, those guys who are actually going to be elected, the ones that you are supposed to be reporting on?

Gibson spoke to the Toledo Blade's TV beat reporter Kirk Baird about an upcoming visit to Ohio's Bowling Green State University and he said a few pretty revealing things to the Blade about how the media are treating the campaign.

Like many of his ilk, he appears in this interview to show a disdain for small town America, he obviously pretends not to see any bias among his comrades, he excuses that bias he does see and interestingly he claimed it was the duty of the media to "expose" Sarah Palin -- an interesting choice of words, for sure...

It’s important to recognize Charlie Gibson really needs therapy!

I am convinced Barack Obama has been in a campaign to brainwash like a Cult leader young minds. You have to talk in small sentences and deprogram.

When ever you see an Obama supporter.

Just look in their eyes and say.

Are you okay? You know Obama is a dangerous man right?

If they say something back just keep shaking your head no, as they talk. Then walk away. do not say anything more

Good Job, Sarah. Root ‘em out!

Charlie Gibson: 'It's Important to Expose' Sarah Palin

But he also said that Obama's relationships with Ayers and Wright and Rezko were all important matters that should be explored and should be addressed by McCain because they tell us about the kind of person Obama is and that if McCain won't talk about it, then he's nuts.

Hey Charlie,

If you guys in the media would just do your job of reporting instead of spinning and pontificating, then Palin would use you as a conduit to the American people. She wants to be exposed! You MSMers do not provide a clear set of glasses for the True Americans to see her by. That is why she is blowing you off.

Republicans should bring him to America, and let us donate money to get him here and get him started in a good job (maybe even provide for some job training)...

Gibson, the Biased ABC Media Bully [looking down his nose from up on high]:
"Please take off your American flag pin. The American flag is an abomination now prohibited by ABC News."

Charlie Gibson's Gaffee

"The Times got it wrong. And Charlie Gibson got it wrong.
There is no single meaning of the Bush doctrine. In fact, there have been four distinct meanings,
each one succeeding another over the eight years of this administration--
and the one Charlie Gibson cited is not the one in common usage today.
...... I know something about the subject because, as the Wikipedia entry
on the Bush doctrine notes, I was the first to use the term.

Comparison: Gibson Questions for Obama (and Edwards in 2004) vs. for Sarah Palin

Obama's Puff-piece interview:
How does it feel to break a glass ceiling?
How does it feel to “win”?
How does your family feel about your “winning” breaking a glass ceiling?
Who will be your VP?
Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP?
Will you accept public finance?
What issues is your campaign about?
Will you visit Iraq?
Will you debate McCain at a town hall?
What did you think of your competitor’s [Clinton] speech?

Palin's 'kangaroo court' interview:
Do you have enough qualifications for the job you’re seeking?
Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders?
Aren’t you conceited to be seeking this high level job?
Questions about foreign policy
-territorial integrity of Georgia
-allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO
-NATO treaty
-Iranian nuclear threat
-what to do if Israel attacks Iran
-Al Qaeda motivations
-the Bush Doctrine
-attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan
Is America fighting a holy war? [misquoted Palin]

"Charles Gibson of ABC News was out for blood and inherently applied
a double-standard compared with the kid gloves George Stephanopoulos
used on Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois on Sunday night.
Gibson was out to embarrass Palin and expose her presumed ignorance from the word go. "

UPI Say ABC Exhibits Double Standard

Did ABC & Gibson Use Camera Trickery To Belittle Gov. Palin?

"While it's true that Governor Palin is of less stature than Mr. Gibson,
the deliberate choice of the camera's height, framing and the use of
telephoto lenses all serve to make Mr. Gibson look overpowering
and Governor Palin the weak prey. This is common shooting technique
we use to make a villain appear more ominous.
"

"Interesting choice of ties for Charlie.

Salesmanship 102 - When you face an adversary, and you seek to control them, wear red.

Why doesn’t Gibson try to expose Obama, you know, the guy who isn’t a Muslim. But yet he attended a radical Muslim school that has produced the terrorists that the world has been “blessed with.” It seems to be that this should be considered problematic for Obama. But strangely, it’s “no big deal.” Apparently everybody has been educated in a school that is responsible for reproducing terrorism. Did I find this out from CNN? No. Good thing for the Internet, where you must go now to find out the truth. It’s no big deal, it happens everyday that a person just happens to have been schooled where the terrorists have been groomed. It’s all just a “coincidence” no biggie. Maybe this would explain some of his connections to our own homegrown terrorists. Without the link of the two, his connection to the homegrown guys seems to be inconsequential. But when you connect the two, suddenly, it seems like maybe there is a story. Maybe this is why the former story has failed to take hold. Unless you hear about his childhood education experience, the former story seems nit-picky. But when you start to put two and two together, then you have something. I guess that should be the job of the journalists. I would suggest that people that want to discuss his adult connections also start throwing in some news about his childhood education. Otherwise, it just seems like they are harrassing him. They have got to give the story some real meat or they need to shut up.

The primary mistake of Gibson and others who think like him is to have an artificially high sense of self-assurance and insight. In short they think they are smarter than they are.

And because of that they believe they are blessed with the ability of determine, better than others, who the best leaders are. This is the elitism.

What they fail to realize is that every person, including Gibson and Couric, has prejudices, like every computer oprating system (to use an analogy) has its flaws and vulnerabilities. A skilled politician/con man will exploit those vulnerabilities and prejudices.

Gibson is simply prejudiced against Palin and therefore feels she is in need of exposing.

You see, in Gibson’s world, straightforward expressions of pride in country and honest virtues are never only that.

They are, instead part of cynical manipulation schemes that are employed by politicians to fool the rubes. Gibson, being sure that he is much smarter than a rube, knows better than to fall for it, even from an Alaskan governor.

Therefore, from his perspective she is just another wannabe clever politician, or even perhaps a sincere rube herself. Either way she needs to be derided because she is derisory. And he is just the man to do it, being an important person and all.

Can you please source the info about Obama’s school and known terrorists that were educated there? I've never heard that connection before.

When this is all done, we need create an effort to have a full out assault on the left and expose them completely, despite what they may call us. The high tech raping of the Palin family is the last straw.

Man, I have no problem with the media asking tough questions of the Republican candidates.

Just so long they ask tough questions of the Dem candidates, as well. "How do you feel?" and "What's your favorite color?" don't count....

This is some proof. The school he went to was a radical one where those who became terrorists were schooled.

Even though this is supposedly an Urban legend, the person claiming it is a legend doesn’t refute that Obama was educated in a radical Muslim School that produced terrorists, they basically just say, that’s no big deal, he was just a kid. But when you think about who he gravitated towards as an adult, it is a big deal. One and one makes two.

“Subject:Fwd: Be careful, be very careful.

Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama Sr. (black muslim) of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya, and Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas. (white atheist ).

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced and his father returned to Kenya. His mother married Lolo Soetoro — a Muslim — moving to Jakarta with Obama when he was six years old. Within six months he had learned to speak the Indonesian language. Obama spent “two years in a Muslim school, then two more in a Catholic school” in Jakarta. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim while admitting that he was once a Muslim, mitigating that damning information by saying that, for two years, he also attended a Catholic school.

Obama’s father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was a radical Muslim who migrated from Kenya to Jakarta, Indonesia. He met Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham-a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas-at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama, Sr. and Dunham divorced when Barack, Jr. was two.

Obama’s spinmeisters are now attempting to make it appear that Obama’s introduction to Islam came from his father and that influence was temporary at best.

In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya immediately following the divorce and never again had any direct influence over his son’s education.

Dunham married another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta’s Wahabbi schools. Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim.

Handsome . . . Charming . . . Winsome . . . Dangerous . . . Deceptive . . . Determined”

Here it is, for some reason, the link didn’t work on two of the things I tried to do. Interesting.

If one bothers to read the actual Toledo Blade interview, one will find that the headline here doesn't fit at all what Gibson said.

Q:
What were your impressions of Gov. [Sarah] Palin? Was there anything that happened off-camera that might give voters more insight into her as a candidate and person?

A:
We've ... had requests for dozens of interviews. It's not for me to give impressions. It's all about the person you're interviewing, so the interview stands on it.

Q:
Have you been surprised by how much attention her interviews with you and with Katie Couric have received?

A:
It really is about the interview. ... But that's as far as I want to go. The reaction to the interview really needs to be about the interview and not what I have to say.

Q:
You and George Stephanopoulos, chief Washington correspondent for ABC News and anchor of ABC's Sunday morning political affairs program, took considerable heat as moderators of the Obama-Clinton debate in April. Particularly the initial line of questioning to the candidates, which Senator Obama called 'gotcha' questions. It's been nearly six months since that debate. What are your thoughts on the criticism now?

A:
It's like the [Palin] interview: It is what it is. I haven't ever spoken about it publicly, and I'm not gonna.

Q:
The mainstream media has come under increasing attack for several years now as being left-leaning. And conservative viewers have the option of Fox News. How has all this affected network news coverage?

A:
Overall, you've got to make sure the coverage balances out in terms of time. We're wrestling with that now. We gave a lot of time to the Palin thing. We're not going to make it absolutely equal because she's new on the scene, so simply ... it's important to expose her, more so than Joe Biden. But we've got to do something fair on the other side as well. We'll do something ... I don't know if it will equal in terms of time, but it will be something featured.

Here’s another link. If people like Hannity want to keep talking about the links to terrorists that Obama had an an adult, then they should talk about his childhood too. When you are only given half of the story, it is annoying because it seems like harassment. Either tell the whole story or shut up.
