Welcome to the Police State: 20,000 uniformed troops inside U.S. by 2011

It's for our own good

And it will be an Orwellian Police State, too: Thoughtcrime is already subject to ostracism and vilification, and what with the UN ready to codify it, and Obama signaling that he wants to increase the importance and influence of the UN, how long will it stay out of the U.S.?

And why is this necessary? Primarily "to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack." Of course, to call the Muslim community in America to account and compel it to stop teaching Sharia supremacism and hatred of Jews and Christians -- that would be "bigoted." Of course, to halt Muslim immigration in light of the impossibility of distinguishing peaceful Muslims from actual and potential jihadists -- that would be racist. Of course, even to institute some kind of screening of Muslims who enter the country in order to determine their adherence to Sharia principles and to make agitation for Islamic law (stonings, amputations, no free speech, no freedom of conscience, etc.) in this country grounds for deportation -- that would be "Islamophobic."

So if we can't do all that or even anything close to those things, what is left? What can we do? Why, become a Police State, with armed troops roaming

Doesn’t the Posse Comitatus act prevent this??

So? This is Democrats we speak of here.

“Posse Comitatus act prevent this??”

Yes it prevents our government from using our wn troops on us, but not to aid us in a disaster.

The question is will our own troops fire on us?

“m thinking there are a whale of a lot more socialist leftists in the Socialist Leftist Democrat Party.”

While your statement is very true, this group didn’t sell anyone out. But the Compassionate Conservatives aka Republican Socialists did in fact sell us out by pretending to be one of us.

And GWB heads the list.

. . .if a nuke goes off we will have no rights. No rights of travel. No rights of self defense. No rights.

Are you sure you're on the right discussion board?

We will have the right of self-defense, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and and all the rest. These are inherent human rights not grants from the government. That is why the Bill of Rights is phrased as forbidding Congress from infringing these rights. We would just be in a state of nature vis-a-vis a tyrannical government, and would have to exercise our natural right of self-defense against its minions.

But they couldn’t make arrests. That was for the US Marshals.

The American people better pay attention to what the government is doing in the name of security. I have to question the wisdom of leaving our borders wide open and deploying 20k troops inside our borders for security reasons. Maybe these troops are really being brought in to control the angry citizens who rise against the government when they realize the politicians bankrupted the treasury.

Exactly, but we must show we are not bigots by hiring the Islamic "militants" as the internal police officers.

Special Islamic Police Force

"As I will support our military to my death, I will not support any military personal running around our streets armed and uniformed for combat. HELL NO."

Precisely the way I feel.

Is this the beginings of Hussein’s domestic miliary force?

Being ex military, I think they explained it to us after 911 as this:

we would not go door to door and arrest people,we would not serve warrants, and we would not go out on combat controls. WE would just be their in case of a major catastrophy, (Like we bailed out the federal gov’t
after katrina)The police, fire and rescue squads do not have the equipment that we do... to set up long range communications, (State to atate) long range logistics, and fast temporary food, shelter, and water points for thousands. If this is what they want on a humanitarian scale..I am all for it.
If they expected me to go door to door, block by block and arrest US citizens...SORRY IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN

I want to believe this is the way it will be. I can't imagine our troops treating him other then a domestic enemy but perhaps I naive or they would be specially selected i.e., muzzies.

These troops will be under the command of President Obama. Hope that gives everyone a warm feeling.

The "warm feeling" it gives me is rage against GW Bush who set this up, and the boolicking statist enablers who think that violation of any law is ok when Republicans do it.

“Shouldn’t we contact our representatives about this?”

They’re too busy collecting money to worry about this sort of thing.

You might have missed it when President Bush signed that nice little piece of legislation that basically tramples the Posse Comitatus Act...recall HR 5122 of 2006--The John Warner National Defense Authorization Act of 2007 (Public Law 109-364)?

Wikipedia summarizes its provisions, including:

Expansion of the President's power to declare martial law under revisions to the Insurrection Act, and take charge of United States National Guard troops without state governor authorization when public order has been lost and the state and its constituted authorities cannot enforce the law (repealed as of 2008);
Fortunately, some of it has been repealed, but I think that its original passage demonstrates that the GOP is no friend of the Constitution these days, either.

(Not that I am implying the Posse Comitatus Act is part of the Constitution.)
