Secessionist movement under way in Texas
Examiner ^

Posted on 08/28/2009 11:36:04 AM PDT by wk4bush2004

Fiercely independent and thoroughly horrified at the blatantly unconstitutional explosion of federal tyranny into every aspect of our lives, Texans are set to march on the state capitol in droves on Saturday. They will be delivering a million-strong petition to their elected officials based on the 10th Amendment, demanding an immediate constitutional confrontation with Washington.

If they are turned away or their concerns inadequately addressed, organizer Gerry Donaldson says they "will be forced to call for a vote for secession." This will not be the last time a state openly defies Obama's treasonous war on the Constitution.

Donaldson, who runs his own Internet radio show, says they are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution." He continued, "Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

“...but I know a few good ol’ boys who after a few shots of Kentucky’s best can catch bullets with their teeth.”

I wish I could say that...because most of us don’t have teeth.

I omit “indivisible” when reciting the pledge to the US Flag.

I also recite the Texas Pledge of Allegiance in full.

I think Abe taught Texas about that whole “indivisible” thing.

And the only hope for a Texas succession would be for a contingent of like minded Texans to move to Loving County and as a county vote to leave Texas and the USA.

Or Texas could exercise the authority in the Texas Annexation Resolution and form four more states, giving Texas eight more senators and thus, at least eight more electoral votes.

No State can split itself regardless of what the Congress ever said. The Constitution says the Congress would need to consent to that. Also, the Supreme Court has said that all States are on an "equal footing" with each other. In this case, that means since no other State can unilaterally split itself, neither can Texas.

Then you've not only forgotten why we split off from the British Crown, but you actively support a course of National suicide.

Yer' a friggin' Tory...

It’s not a republic anymore. It is a Socialist government that is trending close to Marxism.

Not without consent of Congress. Read Article IV.

As a Texan, I don't mind us either leading the secessionist movement or joining it but, right now, I think this article is a little premature. IMO, neither Gov. Goodhair, nor the Texas Legislature are up in arms enough over the Obama nightmare to seriously pursue secession.

The petition drive makes for titillating press but, at the moment, there just isn't any fire to go along with the smoke.

Other states are watching closely, particularly Montana and Oklahoma. It is inconceivable that Oklahoma would stay in the Federal Union if Texas left.

Back at you. You'd take up arms against your own people because they don't want to follow the rest of the Country down the Socialist rathole?
