In a post-apocalyptic America where the once-picturesque countryside has become a desolate and violent wasteland, one man (Denzel Washington) fights to protect that sacred tome that could hold the key to the survival of the human race in this futuristic thriller from filmmaking duo Albert and Allen Hughes (From Hell and Dead Presidents). Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, and Ray Stevenson co-star in the Warner Bros. production. - Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
Denzel Washington is known to like scripts that take a high moral ground. Still it's Hollywood and I am more than half waiting for the other shoe (of the plot) to drop.
I have hope though.
Looks good, great cast, and I know that Denzel won’t sign on to a movie that is crap.
ping?
It’s a COOKBOOK!
(Sorry, couldn’t help myself.)
O yeah! Finally a movie I can relate to.
It was entitled TO SERVE MAN!
Quix, Oh my goodness, this is the biggest piece of propaganda ever, people are being mentally prepared for the eventual reality of something similiar, albeit, fake, occurring ...
Interesting that this and The Road come out so close together. I’ve read in the past that movie themes reflect the culture, often highlighting the fears prevalent at the time: the old-time monsters were the fear of the unknown, followed by the monsters becoming laughable as new villains (mad scientists) took the stage, followed by aliens, and so on. What then do movies like this, which portray the aftermath of an apparently world-wide collapse of modern society without any major physical catastrophe, say about what society is most concerned with?
Will try and get to it this evening.
Thanks.
Looks like the Saints’ D read Eli’s book yesterday.
“Don’t ask us any questions that would portray us negatively”
“I’m afraid I have no choice”
“This interview is now cancelled” ...
Sound familiar ?
Notice the person in the ship says “We offer you hope” ...
IIRC, “The Road” was set for release last year, until producers realized they had a blockbuster and/or Oscar contender on their hands (esp. as the book made Oprah’s must-read list), so they pulled back and spent a year polishing it.
Looks pretty friggin awesome to me!
What an interesting, almost-allegorical coincidence that this movie features a black man carrying a message of salvation apparently powerful enough to redeem all of mankind, through a country laid waste, and the antagonist is a white man of picayune scope who wants to prevent the message from getting out.
I always look forward to seeing Ray Stevenson in a film!
True or False? Denzel Washington is a big time Obama supporter who pretty much think that most conservatives are racists?
If true then why support people like Denzel by going to their movies, attending their sports events, watching their tv shows, or attending their concerts?
