Recently on ABC television news, one of their videos showed a U.S. Marine hunkered down in Afghanistan complaining on camera that he was not allowed to shoot back when under fire. This situation resulted from Obama’s new rules of engagement from his new Afghanistan commander. General McChrystal explained it to BBC news that they are now advising troops to break off from firefights with the Taliban, "If you are in a situation where you are under fire from the enemy... if there is any chance of creating civilian casualties or if you don't know whether you will create civilian casualties, if you can withdraw from that situation without firing, then you must do so”

If you're incapable of understanding the strategy, and prefer to surrender, well then there's not much more to discuss.

Yes, the strategy of "killing them with kindness" seems to be working so well. "Winning the hearts and minds" doesn't coincide with these people's culture. The current administration wants to come to terms with the Taliban. That would mean a total failure.

You may want to acquaint yourself with recent history in Iraq, where we co-opted Sunni tribesmen in Anbar to fight Al Qaeda alongside us.

Well fortunately for us, we've got two guys who're intimately familiar with the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan making the decisions, and they've formulated a plan based upon their experience and knowledge.

McChrystal did not give these orders, the White House did. McChrystal is only carrying them out.

BTW I bet that McChrystal is secretly pissed off at the WH, and will probably resign if he is not given the troops he needs.

Then maybe you had best do some catch up reading and aquaint yourself with the facts before you come calling someone a liar.
We have been discussing this since early July. Not since two days ago.
I just added three more American deaths to the Afghanistan updates. McChrystal is no hero. He is a politician. These are HIS ROE and bam signed off on them. If you don’t know what you are talking about, at least make some effort to find out before you turn the whole subject upside down in defense of the indefensible.
