While the health care legislation recently passed by congress is deemed worthy enough to merit universal application to ordinary folksin fact there are fines and prison sentences in store for those who would dare to refuse to participateit apparently is not good enough for members of the federal government. Despite being given eleven different opportunities to amend the bill to include mandatory participation by members of congress, the Democratic majority voted every one of the amendments down.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi explained that the President said that people who are satisfied with their current health insurance dont have to change. We in congress are satisfied with our insurance and, to be blunt, are in a position to ensure that we dont have to change, because we make the laws.
The health insurance coverage enjoyed by members of congress has long been considered the gold standard for its extensive and generous benefits. Suggestions that it be used as a model for a national health care system for all Americans has been repeatedly rejected as infeasible due to its high cost.
Its possible to cover a small minority, like congress, with the kind of benefits we all long for, Pelosi said. But it would be far too costly to try to provide it for everyone. It is essential to ensure that those who govern this great nation be kept in the best of health. To try to do the same for all is a luxury we cannot afford. Sometimes people just have to settle for less than they might want.

throw ‘em all out!
IT IS TIME WE THROW OUT THE TRASH, THIS BITCH FIRST!
What part is considered satire?
Where’s the link to The Onion?
"With all due respect, Senator Casey, I care not a whit about what you "think" about DeathCare ... this is something your constituents overwhelmingly do NOT want. Every promise is a lie, plain and simple. When you agree that you and your family will be participants in the same plan you have designed for America, then I would suggest that you take advantage of it and leave the rest of us alone. Where but in American government does the employee (that's you) tell the employer (that's me) what to do. I'll do what I can to bury DeathCare before it buries us."
Did anyone expect anything different?
Given a choice, I would not opt for the plan being railroaded through Congress right now. Sure, there is some vague promise that I may keep the coverage I now have (a combination of Medicare and Medigap), but the Medicare is about to be defunded, and the Medigap supplemental is about to be taxed so high it will not be feasible to continue coverage, leaving only the dreaded “public option” available. Should I choose to go with no coverage, I get fined or go to jail.
I do not like those alternatives.
Wow!!! You are right on. May we all copy that and send it to our so-called legislaters?
Ammend the bill with a trigger that forces Congress out of it’s health care plan the moment that any American loses his/her chosen health care plan because of this new legislation. Problem solved?

REALLY??? Another Tea Party March.
Then if it can’t be provided for everyone...they should have to live under the same health care they are trying to shove down our throats. Boy, I hope someone keeps putting this out there in front of the public. We need to scream to the highest heavens about this. Besides...WE are the ones going to pay for our rats nest health care ... no one else. so. what in theee hell is she blabbering on about anyway? Who is paying for theirs?????
I thought the 1994 Republican Congress passed a law that forbid Congress from exempting itself from laws.
