Sarah Palin. Is She Smart Enough?
Self | February 10, 2010 | Ronald Dahlberg

I so sick and tired of the people saying that Sarah Palin is not ready to be President of the United States of America. She is not smart enough or she doesn’t have enough experience.

One has to wonder whether a legal education, especially from an Ivy League school, is nothing more than learning how to circumvent our Constitution in order to bring about a “collectivist” society. Sarah Palin is educated to the point of having gained much wisdom..Her exposure to surviving the harsh side of Mother Nature up there in Alaska has given her the edge to any Ivy League graduate who has known nothing but a soft life. I, personally, have a hard time mustering up any respect at all for any of those people. I would much rather sit at the feet of some old dirt farmer who has learned through experience all he needs to know about this human existence.

But, let’s face it, she does not speak well. I get nervous whenever I watch her in interviews. She might be “book smart” but she doesn’t appear to be all that thoughtful, IMHO.

Her speaking is her best asset.

I'm a Palin lover. I remember Ronald Reagan and to me if Reagan was a women he would be like her. I'm 57 and before I knew that he was a running for president, he was a actor and he was my favorite male actor. When he became president I never got enough of him speaking. I feel they same about Sarah. She is what America means to me. (Same as Reagan) Like Reagan she has common sense. Like Reagan she is hated but even more because of her pro life stand. I'm a man but I do not know of a GOP man right now with her guts! But then again her strength comes from the LORD! If someone else wins for the GOP in 2012 I will support he or she, if they are Conservative but it the will not be the same if it is not President Sarah Palin (AKA:Reagan in women)

What in the world is wrong with her getting paid for her speech? I know she gave it back but she should have kept it! Nobody else gives speeches for nothing.

"and if she can’t take the mudslinging in Alaska"

Democratic talking point,

She prayed about it, God gave her the knowledge to do want is best to help Alaska and her country, Her fighting the corrupt Republicans in Alaska, taking on the mainstream media and always being the underdog proves she can take it. And by the way no American politician has had to take the crap the media has done to her. That includes Reagan and W!

I think she would serve well in the White House but I would like to see her in the Senate—or as speaker of the house.

Exactly right, one term in the Senate, then on to the Oval Office.

They mistake her folksy, homespun image for ignorance and/or softness. If they only knew.

Without naming names, a distant relative of mine was involved in the Alaskan Oil business, who had dealings with E/M and certain North Slope holdings.

Anyway, when Palin was Energy Comissionner, she began working on changes to the way that E/M did business in Alaska, and going after sweetheart backroom dealers and influence peddlers. Apparently my distant relation was among the latter.

Within 6 weeks of Palin becoming Governor, my distant kin was in prison. He's still in prison and won't even be eligible for parole for another 6 years.

I wish some of these folke who are so sure that Palin is so stupid and so soft would explain this to him; I have no doubt what a marvelous comfort it would be for him to know this "warmer, gentler side" of the human Barracuda.

Palin did a great job as our governor up here; accomplished alot more than the last several governors did; more importantly had the trust of the Alaskan People. Now how do you think you attain that? By doing the right thing, not the political right thing either.

Now that she is gone, you can see Alaska sinking back into the same ole corrupt politics game often controlled by the oil industry that we have kived with for many decades up here;;;; Wish she was still back here in Alaska running the show.

My $.02 worth for those who question Mrs. Palin’s aptitude and abilities: Be careful or she will have outsmarted you too.

Take her accomplishments achieved so far in her young life and compare them to everything you have been able to achieve in your own life in the same time frame. Don’t forget to add in the burden of childbirth along the way so as to get the proper perspective. There, don’t you feel superior now?

Now let’s look at her very “foolish” action in resigning from her position as Governor of the Great State of Alaska. As has been mentioned by a previous poster here, the situation for the Governor and for the people of Alaska at the time was untenable. Due to the myriad of frivolous lawsuits aimed at her office and the State, the state treasury was being depleted and the Palin family was falling hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt defending themselves, which I understand is a matter of state law that all suits must be responded to no matter how ridiculous.

So what has happened to Alaska since she “abandoned” her constituents in such a “cowardly” manner. Well, the man who is now Governor is her political clone and below the radar of absolutely everybody. I believe that the agenda that Mrs. Palin had when she assumed office is being quietly achieved. The gas pipeline across Canada to the lower 48 is becoming a reality after over a decade of hard work. It is my understanding that all of those lawsuits have more or less evaporated.

And what of the Palin family debt? Well the lady is so stupid that she was only able to negotiate a book deal ( how many copies, besides mine, were pre-sold months before publication) for millions of dollars and an advance large enough to erase any and all debt on her family. Have you noticed how visible she is now that a leased Gulfstream can have her anywhere in a matter of hours. She would have gone to jail in Alaska for any of these things if she were still Governor. And what about her book? It’s not Tennessee Williams, it’s her life story. Yes it was ghost written, but I found it much more genuine and compelling than the story that Bill Ayers wrote for our President.

But, you say, she would have learned and grown so much and be much better prepared for higher office had she only remained in her office. And, you might continue, she would have been so much more politically viable and effective as Governor than as a private citizen. really? Do you know what is happening in Alaska right now? I don’t. Do any of you know the current Governor’s name without looking it up? I don’t know that either. Do you have any idea how far removed Alaska is from the rest of the country? Do any of you think that she could be saying the things that she is know saying, level the criticism where it belongs (anybody looked at her Facebook page lately?), and appear at events of her choosing if she were still in Alaska?

I could go on, but I won’t. I dislike long, verbose posts here as do others. The way I see it, Sara Palin’s most blatant shortcoming might be that she is just too good looking to be President. I wouldn’t take the job, as if I’m qualified, for any salary and it has become increasingly apparent that there is something terribly compromised in the people who want that job.

Sara just might be different.

Is Sarah Palin smart enough?

If you don't think so then you're not smart enough to be judging her.

We need COMMON SENSE.

Common Sense is shaping up to the the theme of the 2010 elections, and, one would hope, 2012.

Just keep saying it!

We need COMMON SENSE.

BINGO!!!

I'd like someone to recall any Republican candidate or President that wasn't cast by the dims and MSM as 'unbright'.

You won't.

From working around intellectuals and college professor types I have come to this conclusion.

In general, intellect and common sense are inversely proportional.
Yes, there are exceptions, some freepers, but that's my experience.

If I am not mistaken there is a saying up in Ak “the road is litter with Gov. Palin’s political corpse”. Gov. wants O as her next political trophy.
