8/27 & 8/28: Glenn Beck’s Divine Destiny: Evangelicals Without The Evangel

Desert Scene

Mormon talk show host Glenn Beck has added an event called “Divine Destiny” to his Washington, DC rally schedule where “nationally-known religious figures from all faiths will unite to deliver messages reminiscent to those given during the struggles of America's earliest days.” Beck continues:

I have met with the biggest leaders of faith in the country privately and I have asked them to help me put differences aside and to reach out with one another so we can remind people to get down on their knees for our brothers' shield in our danger's hour.

You will fully understand on 8 28 what is about to happen to this country and who is coming, who is willing to stand. I have been telling you for awhile this will be a historic moment. I promise you that it will be. I promise you. I have promised you before and I have personally seen them already. I have told you, prepare to witness mighty and powerful miracles. I have already seen them. What you will witness on September 28th, the beginning of a restoration you and your children will never forget.

Who are these big name faith leaders Beck has been talking to? He has dropped numerous hints that a couple of guests on stage August 28th for his Restoring Honor rally will be huge shockers as they show their solidarity with Glenn’s plans and perhaps affirm his own faith tradition, Mormonism. Does Beck refuse to give their names because there remains the possibility they will still back out? One could hope.

There is speculation that two surprise guests could be Billy Graham and Pope Benedict. It is not hard to imagine Billy Graham appearing in person, if his health permits.

No one is opposed to character and honor. We are not quibbling nor ridiculing. Beck is not just gathering folks to pledge to be people of character. He has said repeatedly that this rally be the most historic event in the history of our country. He thinks he is bringing revival of Great Awakening proportions, but he denies the real basis of that Awakening, the preaching of Jesus Christ and him crucified. There would be no opposition if this were about politics or character. It is about religion, the false religions of pluralism, moralism and Mormonism. No revival without the Only Reviver. Jesus will not share His Glory with Mohammed, the Pope, Joseph Smith, Glenn Beck, Billy Graham, or 300,000 sheep without a Shepherd.

Beck is not the Tea Party. The Tea Party is bigger than Beck.

I agree, TMNL.

Did I miss something or say something that implied otherwise?

What about he was Jewish? Would you feel the same way? Hindu? Sikh? Would you dismiss him then?

Did I say that? I’m sorry you inferred it and it will not affect my thoughts about him he makes too much sense. The only thing that disappoints me about GB is his nonchalant attitude toward marriage and the newest perversion being foisted upon it. That baffles me

I cannot speak for JMouse but I’ll interject my own opinion here.

First, Glenn is masquerading as a Christian (I am not suggesting that he knows better, but he does try to downplay what he really believes; no Christian would be ashamed of any of his Doctrines)

Second, I would not participate in a religious rally run by people from religion I believe to be false.

Just so you know, unlike Mormons, I believe that there are true Christians mixed in among many denominations: Assembly of God, Baptist, Episcopal, Lutheran, and maybe even a few Presbyterians :-)

MBB: Since Beck doesn’t have a problem with gay marriage, I will pass on his event.

TMNL: So, you are willing to let the country slip into insolvency (to be repaid by our children and grandchildren) and anarchy due to this one “dear to your heart” issue not covered here?

To Media...

Kid, Beck is not savior of our country ala the white horse prophecy...

All those doom and gloom things you listed are not going to happen just because someone doesnt go to Becks “event”

If they are going to happen, they will happen regardless of whether Glenn Beck picks his nose on TV or at the Lincoln memorial...

Actually I need to be honest with you and myself-it bothers me a lot.For him. But having said that I’ll also repeat what I said: I had no idea. So...I will continue to believe in my mind that GB is a patriot who I will always have more in common with than my spiritual fellow travelers like Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Durbin, Sebelius, etc etc etc I have nothing in common with them because they aren’t what they say they are. People who are searching with a clean honest heart will find the truth and it may surprise them but find it they will God says so. I will pray for GB he is a good man, flawed for sure we all are, but he will figure it out hopefully not too late. As Christians and as patriots we have to listen, sift it, take what is good if there is any good there to come away with.

He has it mostly right and has a lot of ideas that would move us back to a more sane reality, that’s for sure.

"The only thing that disappoints me about GB is his nonchalant attitude toward marriage and the newest perversion being foisted upon it. That baffles me" Beck is becoming a Jeffersonian libertarian. He believes that the Garden of Eden was about the right to choose. Bookmark this post. I predict Beck may come out soon favoring the continued legalization of abortion. According to Mitt Romney, worthy Mormons can be against abortion personally while being "effectively pro-choice"

Look, I have defended Beck and believe he provides tons of information that you won't get anywhere else (even if 15% of it is wrong!). It has only been in the last year or so since he has started offering his own solutions, of a "spiritual" nature,to the problems. It is these that I reject. I love our Constitution, but it is not inspired. I think freedom is better than bondage. I don't think gathering at the mall on Washington singing Kum-Ba-Ya will make any difference. What got me going was Beck's claim that the preaching of George Whitefield made our country prepared for a Republic (which it no doubt helped), but then deny every single thing Whitefield preached.

Yes I hear you. Very sad, he keeps going down that road and he will lose audience and possibly his show. He’s right to keep this association quiet as long as possible because his biggest supporters are people like us, who give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to ideas in the political arena, but whose beliefs will never be compromised.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’m dicernong no real reason (yet) to tune him out. I think that’s what you’re saying too. I’m just disappointed someone who seems so smart may not be

"I am not going to be concerned about doctrine that DOESNT MATTER." (Emphasis mine)

Your statement is ridiculous! Doctrine is the body of TRUTH. Who are you to determine what doctrine concerning biblical Christianity "does not matter?"

It is of no consequence if Glenn Beck says he believes in "jesus" ("You believe that there is one God. You do well. EVEN THE DEMONS BELIEVE—and tremble!" James 2:19). The ultimate question which must be asked and answered is this:

WHICH "Jesus" does he believe in?

The so-called "jesus" of the cult of Mormonism is NOT the Jesus of the Bible or of BIBLICAL Christianity! It never has been and never will be. Does THAT doctrine "matter" to you?

Glenn Beck is a devout Mormon, as such he firmly believes and teaches what the cult of Mormonism believes and teaches regarding Jesus Christ and theology and what Mormonism teaches about both is HERESY. It is NOT biblical and it is definitely NOT Christian. Does that doctrine "matter"?

Sadly, your post demonstrates a total lack of spiritual discernment or ignorance on your part regardingthe doctrine of bibilcal Christianity and the heretical teachings of Mormonism.

Because Mr. Beck steadfastly remains within the Mormon "church", and holds to it's teachings, in spite of his research (along with being confronted, I am sure on numerous occasions by loving born-again friends and colleagues, who care about his soul, with the TRUTH concerning the doctrine of BIBLICAL Christianity and the diametrically opposed teachings of Mormonism), regarding Mormonism and biblical Christianity, we can come to no other conclusion but that Glen Beck, believes in "another jesus", the "jesus" of Mormonism. That "jesus" is NOT the Jesus Christ of biblical Christianity and that "jesus" cannot save him or anyone else from their sin, no matter how much of a "change" he has made in their lives, no matter how much they may proclaim they "know jesus".

Does that doctrine "matter"? It MUST if you are a Christian.

The former president and so-called "prophet" of the Mormon Church who recently died; Gordon B. Hinckley, made it abundantly clear that the "Jesus Christ" of Mormonism, is NOT the Jesus Christ of Biblical Christianity in an address he gave to Mormons in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1998. The Deseret News (a Mormon publication) reported:

"In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ (The "jesus christ" of Mormonism), President Hinckley spoke of those OUTSIDE the Church who say Latter-day Saints 'DO NOT believe in the TRADITIONAL Christ' (i.e., The traditional Christ of biblical Christianity):

'NO, I DON'T. The TRADITIONAL Christ of whom THEY SPEAK is NOT the Christ of whom I SPEAK. For the Christ of whom I SPEAK HAS BEEN REVEALED IN THIS, THE DISPENSATION OF THE FULLNESS OF TIMES'

'He together with His Father, APPEARED TO THE BOY JOSEPH SMITH IN THE YEAR 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, HE KNEW MORE OF THE NATURE OF GOD THAN ALL THE LEARNED MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL OF THE AGES.'" (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7, Emphasis mine)

The "Jesus" President Hinckley, and the Mormons believe in, and the doctrine taught concerning this "jesus," was the "jesus" and doctrine about him which was supposedly "revealed" to and taught by Joseph Smith and the Mormon "church" since 1820. Because, according to Mormonism, the ENTIRE church along with ALL of it's DOCTRINE and teachers was APOSTATE prior to Joseph Smith receiving his supposed revelation: "THE DISPENSATION OF THE FULLNESS OF TIMES"

President Hinckley, the so-called "prophet" and former leader of Mormonism, was being totally honest and told the truth; Mormons do not worship the traditional Jesus Christ who is described in the Bible, the Holy Word of God. They worship another "jesus"; the false christ devised, proclaimed and taught by Joseph Smith and Mormonism.

From its inception Mormonism has been deemed a cult and NEVER been recognized as being a part of “Christianity or Christendom because it’s core doctrines are in total opposition to the Word of God, the doctrine of salvation, the Christ of the Bible, and the Christ of Christianity. Does that doctrine matter? Yes it does.

There are numerous web sites online that present the insurmountable DOCTRINAL differences between Mormonism and BIBLICAL Christianity, this is just one of example:

If the Founding Fathers were like you, we’d have no country cause they would have been too busy fighting each other over dogma instead of banding together to fight for independence.

As for post #75 I also wrote everything there except for the quote I cited from former Mormon President Hinckley = (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7)

Did I miss the part where Beck was calling for taking up arms against the British? Is this a patriotic rally or a religious one?

Agreed, GB is not our savior, but no one is going to get everything he/she wants. Gotta be some compromist.

Last election, I had a buddy who looked at the Obama website, agreed with most everything said there and voted for O. He was against Romney in the primary, and was for O because he was a Christian instead of Morman.

He is sorry now.

TMNL,

I agree with compromise. This is not about politics. It is about truth. We ought not to compromise on that.
